The heavy defensive minuets and DZone starts along with elevated PK time is exhausting him. Need to lighten his load. Hanafin lindholm lohrei gives you a steady core back there for years to come. A 1C isn’t coming zacha and coyle are on their way to career years. Bolster the back end.

I wouldn’t be so sure about a sophomore slump for Poitras his vision and in game awareness is excellent he plays a very mature game for a 19 year old
The way I see it this season the Bruins are playing with house money on Poitras he’s way ahead of schedule and his performances this year change the long term outlook of the team

Agreed - sophomore slumps are usually experienced by players who perform at an unsustainable pace in their rookie years. For example, if Poitras continued to play as a PPG player like he did early this year - I would say he was a candidate for a sophomore slump. IMO he has hit a wall because he is still undersized and developing - the hockey IQ is there. Give him a full offseason in an NHL program to add strength, speed, and endurance and he should be able to be full-time player in the top-9/top-6 next year

The only thing is I’d expect you’ll have to pay a 3rd for the 8th year to whoever holds Hanifin’s rights come the offseason.

He is a UFA.
