Now the Leafs would have to find a centre. Vermette and Moore doesn't inspire me and if Bozak or Matthews ever got injured. Vatanen is injured and while Ritchie has potential, be hard to replace JVR's goals.

Yeah Pal, I do agree that Leafs depth at center is lessened! But I also think it's easier to find a 3C than a top pairing RD! I don't see scoring off the wing as a problem at all now or in the future! It also helps our cap situation going into the year and ongoing! I think Aaltonen is a reasonable answer to filling in at 3C or 4C, and I would have no problem should Leafs decide to Extend Bozak! Be honest Pal, even if under the current roster, Bozak, Matthiews, or Kadri got injured we are in Center Jail!

kari isn't a 3c! He's not a 1c for sure but on a lot of teams he would be! Kadri is a high end 2c in my mind ...

Hey Doug. I just think the trade might write off next season with Vats injured and Bozak and Kadri gone. Long term....if Ritchie develops it would help the Leafs. I don't know why everyone thinks Bozak is a 3C (I hate ratings like this). He centred the line with the the highest scoring LWer and centred the line with the 2nd best RWer. Hardly the classic...checking 3C centre.
Hope I'm wrong, but 25 year old Aaltonen, I doubt if he is ever a difference maker in the NHL, he really wasn't in the KHL. Gotta hope Brooks develops with the Marlies.
With the cap next year, and hopefully progression of other players, I gotta believe JVR and Bozak aren't Leafs next year. They might be needed all year this year though.
Your right about the centres this upcoming season. If Bozak gets hurt (good change), Kadri gets suspended (fair change), yep ,thats boosts Moore and Fehr to 3/4 spots. Ugh.

Nope! Pa,l simply changes the overall picture and Babcock relents and moves Willie into the middle! Huge depth on the right side! Brooks a real long term project and maybe never makes it. Bracco ultimately a right winger (Marner light) and could be ready before we know it!
