Jake to LA

Created by: PensGMwannabe
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 29, 2024
Published: Jan. 29, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not positive on value there. Looks like it could be quantity over quality. Is Turcotte still a legit prospect? I would think LA would have interest in Ned as well.

LA fans, what do you think?

No thanks. 3 quality young players and a 1st round pick for a rental is a huge overpay.

Why would we want to rent Jake Guentzel?

For all those who haven't been paying attention, it's neither offensive nor defensive talent that is the cause for our half-season swoon, it's commitment.

I would be careful how loosely you use the term quality. Yes Kaliyev could still be something with a move but he is far from his original draft value. Laferriere is nothing but a middle of the pack winger and Turcotte is the main piece of the trade going back. Kings are immediate playoff contenders with this trade. Right now their best winger is Kempe who is doing very little despite playing next to Kopitar. Through Guentzel in there and Kopitar all of a sudden is back at his peak.

Laferriere is the next Alex Iafallo. He came out of nowhere this season and has been solid for the Kings.

Turcotte is the best forward prospect in the Kings system. Yes, he has injury issues, but when he has been healthy he has been fantastic.

Kaliyev is struggling in the Kings system, but that doesn't mean his value has fallen off. He's a 22 year old player with nearly 200 NHL games, and that never happens in LA. The Kings might move him, but not for a rental forward.

Honestly take out the 1st and still no.
