Trades
MTL
  1. Copley, Pheonix
  2. Dubois, Pierre-Luc
Additional Details:
I know it is extremely unlikely and I am not sold on the idea of the Habs acquiring PLD either but with Doughty's comments about selfish players, one has to wonder if there is a rift in the dressing room caused by PLD. We all know he has had those "selfish" tendencies in the past, so it seems like a logical place to start. So for this ACGM, let's assume that Doughty was intact talking about PLD.

We all know the Kings need help in goal and at LD and if they do move PLD would also need to bring in center help, why not kill 3 birds with one stone? Would this be intriguing enough to be able to sell the the fans?
LAK
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Farrell, Sean
  3. Harris, Jordan
  4. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
Replacement center on a good contract who is outscoring PLD significantly

2nd pair young LHD who has a very high hockey IQ

Decent backup goalie

Good winger prospect

Sure it's not what you gave up but it can be sold as filling multiple holes by letting a player go who is getting a reputation as being selfish and a locker room cancer.

Montreal obviously benefits because they desperately need a healthy 2C.

The only thing even remotely interesting to LA in that trade is Sean Farrell. The rest is useless.

Harris is a healthy scratch on the Kings. Monahan will be gone at the end of the season. Allen is worse and more expensive than what the Kings have already.

The Kings aren't trading PLD anytime soon. They're stuck with him for at least 4-5 more years.

If they don't trade him by the TDL his NMC clause kicks in and they are stuck with him for the duration of his contract.

Monahan can and probably would resign in LA for around 5 mil x 3 years.

Harris is better than you give him credit for he is easily better than Anderson and Englund and would be the Kings defacto 2LD.

The Kings already have been reportedly looking at acquiring Allen.

Edit*** I also said it was unlikely that the Kings moved him but the added benefit for them is to get out of a huge contract with a selfish player who is potentially causing a lockerroom rift

I wouldn't touch Dubois at this point. Too many red flags.
We don't need a selfish and unmotivated player signed for $68M. Wrong message to our other players.
Performance can vary while work ethic and motivation exist, but a lack of effort cannot be tolerated.
I'd take Gallagher over Dubois. You might not get many points and he may cost your team with dumb penalties, but his attitude is never in doubt.

Not if they buy him out. Also, his NMC drops to a 15-team NTC after his 5th year, hence the "4-5 more years" estimate.

Don't think Monahan is worth $5M. Not interested.

Harris is most definitely not better than Mikey Anderson. Anderson is going to be the Kings next captain when Kopitar retires. He's one of the premier defensive defensemen in the league. Harris also doesn't bring the truculence that Englund does, which is the only reason why Englund got the 3LD spot over Bjornfot in the first place.

The Kings have reportedly been looking at a goaltender, but even Friedman (who initially reported it) admits that it's probably not Allen due to the price tag.

This is exactly why I said I wasn't sold on him either but I personally don't see Dach as being able to be healthy for a full season (ever) so we need someone who can be healthy, at this point I might be willing to take just about anyone lol

Fair, I was thinking it was full NMC for the duration, my bad lol

Monahan os on pace for almost 60 points and with his injuries seemingly behind him, I could see him getting 5 mil on his next deal but it would have to be a shorter deal just incase the injury woes aren't behind him.

I see what you are saying about the roles their D play and it's fair, the only cevat I would say is that Harris is a very cerebral player and while he doesn't do anything flashy he very rarely makes huge mistakes.

Again a fair point on Allen
