Doubt the Sabres do this...doesn't improve the team since we are stocked at the forward position. If Mitts gets traded at TDL or off season a RHD should be involved

That’s putting it nicely
No way in hell Sabres trade Mitts for “futures”
ZERO CHANCE

Now that is a trade that makes sense for BOTH SIDES

Sabres add in Clifton, who has played well w Boston, to fill the hole from losing Carlo

Boston adds back a pick

I’d love to somehow get Ullmark from them too though

I'm not saying that the original proposed trade was good for both sides, but I can tell you that trading Carlo creates a massive problem in the Bruins D, so it doesn't make sense for them. We know from experience that Clifton is a good player that can lay some nasty hits, but he doesn't fill the same needs that Carlo does (go-to shutdown guy, staple on the PK), and he isn't anywhere close to the same player skill-wise. IMO, the Bruins are not flashy at the center position, but they are doing well enough that I cannot justify cannibalizing the D to upgrade at C at this point. Best to be patient and wait for a UFA, a more favorable trade, or a player to develop internally.

Personally, I cannot see the Bruins adding more than depth at the TDL. Maybe, MAYBE a middle 6 wing. They don't have the assets or the cap space to do these things reasonably without destroying another part of the roster.

By the way, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ully get traded in the offseason. He should be cheaper then, too. Maybe you can get him for picks/prospects. I could definitely see a match as long as it is kosher with his 15 team no-trade list.

I don’t think the trade would happen at the deadline either
But i think having a successful past with Clifton might- MIGHT- ease their minds about moving Carlo

This would be an offseason move though,
bc the Bruins would have to flame out in the playoffs & think a Center upgrade is important

But you’re probably right though
I’m sure they’d rather add a Top6 Center AND keep Carlo around
