I doubt he’d force a trade to the rangers , he doesn’t owe the rangers anything. Could also go to Vegas

Once Theodore comes back Vegas doesn't really have any cap space. They'll actually be negative 800k as it stands. It would have to be money in money out which could be difficult. I'm not saying he's forcing to NYR. I'm saying NYR are say 1/3 teams and the other 2 cannot make the cap work.

Sens will send a 4th to another team to get that double retention on Senko and get the 1st round pick

I'd probably do that.
I'd try and counter with Duke 50% retained instead of MG and drop Jones, Berard, and the 4th from the trade since you'll still have space for an extra. Obv throws a wrinkle for next year since MG has the extra year at 5m.
Either way, as is it's an interesting trade that the Sharks should consider.

It's the 5m next year that I thought would be a bigger issue for NY than SJ since SJ is still rebuilding. Especially if Chytil's latest injury isn't career ending, we'd also have that 4.5m on the books. Granlund at 3m would mainly be an insurance policy that could always shift to RW.

I mean that's fair, but not always as easy as it seems. We will see what happens. A 2nd that can turn into a 1st isn't the worst consolation prize if you couldn't get that extra retention done.

Yeah I know but Staios really needs to make up for losing a 2026 1st and getting a ****ty return on the Debrincat trade

It takes some time for GMs to get good footing. Drury had a ROUGH first offseason (buch trade, goodrow signing, etc) but seems to have settled in nicely (Senko/Mikkola trades, kane trade, lundkvist trade). Here is hoping it's after this trade with NYR posted awesome face
