Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Imo Holmberg can fill the 4th line center role.
Can Minten and Cowan make the team, it would be huge for the cap space issues.
A new coach is a must, than you give Robertson and Lilly a real shot at a bigger role if it doesn't workout it will be time to move on.

Unless Minten or Cowan have great training camps I'd keep them on the Marlies.

There's no point fast tracking these young players and forcing them into roles they're not ready for.

I agree 100%. I was just showing what the cap would look like if they made the team. I didn't add Lilly and Robertson in the lineup either because not sure what they would be making or if they move them for more size on the team.

It would definitely be an advantage if those 2 players playing on cheap entry level contracts could step in right away.

History says it's unlikely.

It allows you more flexibility to address other team needs.

I have Liljegren making 4 years 3.5 mil AAV.

Robertson 2 years 1 mil AAV.

these 3 are what the Leaf's will need next year. Cheap bottom 6 players. Järnkrok and Kämpf are well worth their cap hit for the Leafs.

The Leafs are going to have space for the kids if they earn it next year on the wing

The point is that they have way to soft role players. Holmberg takes Kampf spot at 1.6M savings. Cowan replaces Jarnkrok 1.3M savings. Timmons can be replaced with a UFA minimum savings 300K. That's 3.2M in savings which is huge. 26.8M for 11 spots isn't great but doable.
