Caps will get a 1st or a 2nd+ for Dowd. They pass, especially for a rival.

There's no world where Anaheim takes that Goodrow contract the other way, give San Jose a call, they've got the cap space and they still love him.

Is it really THAT bad with the extra carrots here of a 1st and Kaako? I know he’s expensive for what he provides, but the cap wouldn’t be an issue until maybe the final year of his deal. It also relaxes Henrique with another vet locker room presence.

I’m not saying I love it, or even that I’d take it. But I feel like it’s not just a blanket, outright no, right?

Add some more and take out both Rico and Lyubushkin

Maybe then we will eat Goodrow’s contract

What young player are we pushing off the roster for him? We've got plenty of Veteran presence on the team. Goodrows owed $5M next season and has three full seasons left on his deal, not to mention if he'd even waive for Anaheim in the first place.

He's a $3.6 million dollar 4th liner who this season is barely NHL quality, that's a lot of money to eat for a guy who's replacement level player when we're trying to clear spots out at forward to bring up young guys.

Can't see Ottawa using a retention slot for a 6th, they only have 2 because of Murray.

Just to clarify, I’m in no way advocating that Goodrow is a piece we need. He’s overpaid with a lot of term left, especially for a clear bottom 6 fwd. the question is just if the deal is so bad that there’s no realistic return worth taking him on.

We’ll be losing Rico, Silf, possibly Carrick (I hope not). Jones has looked bad and seems like he needs a change of scene as well. McGinn has 1 year left. I’m not really convinced we have young players to fill all those slots. What bottom 6 forwards do we feel like need a spot this upcoming season? Gauthier is the most notable one, but he’d be middle to top 6. Gaucher, Pasta, Tracey aren’t ready. Perreault could use another year. The rest are in Juniors and need at minimum a year if not considerably more

If we're going to see if Groulx is an NHL player, we need to keep him in the lineup. Given he's been promoted to 2nd line in McTavish's spot, it's not a wild assumption to think Anaheims looking to keep him around. Lundestrom is still young and somehow has a positive +- on this Ducks team since returning, so while it's not an end all be all stat, something's working there. I'm all for keeping guys in the AHL as long as we can, but we do have a number of reserve list guys needing to be signed this year and sent to San Diego if we're keeping them, and in some cases like RHD with Helleson, I think it's time he makes the jump, because Warren and Luneau need the top 4 time in the A to develop. Regenda only has a year left of waivers protection I believe, and I'm excited for him joining the main roster in the near future. Gaucher is also hanging around in the AHL, I think we've got two seasons before he needs to jump to the bottom 6.

And as pointed out, I hope we keep Carrick as a 12-14 guy.
