Why would Tanev merit a 5m X 2 year deal? It's 2024. Looks like you lost Giordano and Timmins to waivers, and Minten. The obsession with Tanev fascinates me.

It's a B/C prospect and a 2nd for Tanev, I doubt that gets it done, Especially with an extension involved.

IMO Minten is pretty equivalent to that 1st round pick as this draft has a pretty steep drop off once you get to the 20th pick or so. He was an early 2nd round pick (which is what Calgary is looking for) and has developed nicely since being drafted. I think there is a deal to be made around Tanev for Minten just depends on the other pieces Calgary might be interested in.

Because he’s a top pair shutdown defenseman that the Leafs have been looking for for 10 years. Gio can hit waivers i doubt he gets claimed and Timmins is in the trade.
