Hanifin's getting closer to 7X7 in FA. Also, I have a feeling Hertl or Couture will be traded this offseason.

Couture hasn’t indicated anything of wanting to leave, and it would be hard for him to go, I imagine, without retention. So i think he would go with two years left on his deal when the burns retention is up. Hertl is gonna talk to management in the off season, but i think griers goal is to be pushing for a playoff spot by 25/26, I would say rn 60% hertl would stay. Sharks could easily eat the 7 but i dont know if they would love the term for that.

Edit* I would guess Ferraro will stay, but I just wanted to try something different, Grier already said he wont sign older(ish) UFA’s long term.

Andersen was literally on the ice for the Canes today, no need for Kahkonen

He’s missed a lot of time, this would only happen if he is also struck by canes goalie curse this season.

We also already have Raanta, Kochetkov and Spencer Martin. With Freddie back, the Canes are out of the goalie market.

It also depends on what teams are willing to offer for someone like Hertl. He is a top centre in the league probably leaning more to the 1B category of centres on top playoff teams. Could easily see offers of top picks, prospects and decent roster players that would entice Grier to make a move. Off the top of my head I could see the Jets or Bruins making large packages that would be hard to turn down.

But keep in mind i think a lot of people would also be wary of the back half of the contract and he has a full NMC. Bruins dont have the facilities for a big offer either IMO. If we got a big offer though I dont see why not but id be so heartbroken to see Tommy in another jersey.

Your trade is equally as ridiculous. You're not getting Kakko just for taking on Goodrow. Probably not even getting that third. He lowkey has positive value because of his defensive ability and leadership. His status as a cap dump is way overstated.

Duclair 50% retained is included in the trade. Goody as much as I love him is 100% a cap dump at that cap hit and at that term. In no way shape or form does he lowkey have positive value, even his underlying metrics are terrible except on the PK. Athletic has him valued at league min contract meaning he is overpaid by about three million for 3 more years, will likely continue to decline. The only saving grace is that his contract is structured well for a buyout although whether or not a contender should seek to have dead cap is another argument.
