Caps don't have a need for Jokiharju and I don't believe they're super high on Krebs either. They'll take picks for Dowd, instead of paying Dowd and more for two guys they don't likely value or have use for.

In the last 10 years, there have been 284 forwards drafted in 1st round

By mid-way through their D+2 season, only 23% of them were still in juniors.

Top-20... less than 17%
Top-10....less than 6%

And that includes guys like Michael Dal Colle with nearly 100 pt season, Zach Senyshyn and Kieffer Bellows scoring 40+ goals, Logan Brown with nearly 1.5 ppg.

The two best players who were still in CHL at time were Suzuki and Barzal.

He could turn out great, maybe even like Suzuki or Barzal...but tearing up juniors at that age isn't really an indicator of success.

Only reason Benson made the Sabres roster and NOT Savoie, was that Savoie got hurt & missed almost ALL of training camp- an injury that lingered into the start of the NHL season

You’re generalizing here & not looking at the particular situation of this player

Its not one cut.

He applied for underage exemption in WHL and was declined.
Committed to Denver, asked for early admit, was declined.
Decommitted on Denver, returned to WHL.
Left WHL for USHL (during COVID)
Was cut from Canada's U18 team
Returned to WHL
Cut from Canada WJC team
Applied for Shane Wright exemption, was declined

There may be a lot more there, but he has to prove himself up a bit first. Lighting up juniors as D+2 player doesn't really accomplish that. We've got to see more somewhere other than juniors...until then, he is a hard one to read. And is a ways from where Zegras was at same age.

Why are we comparing Savoie to Zegras???
I’m NOT talking about this dumb trade proposal AT ALL

ALL i was asking is why ppl are down on Savoie?
Sorry, but your reasons don’t hold up imo
He was a top10 pick who has shown ONLY progress since being drafted
Weird that isn’t enough for you, but that’s fine i guess

I tried to answer earlier...(below)
I cannot speak for others, but I think people are low on him because he is putting up numbers against, in many cases, high schoolers.
He has been cut from multiple international teams...and the one team he did make did not seem to use him much.
Has moved around a bit. Is undersized.

I would suppose a big year in AHL next year will likely help. Or making Sabres out of camp.

D+2 season playing against younger competition. Hasn’t replicated in international or best-v-best. On smaller side.

But it’s not that I am low on Savoie…it’s just that I don’t think Zergras would be sold at a discount since he has run into injury troubles this year. Same reason Sabres fans wouldn’t accept a discounted return on Cozens this year.

You seem to IGNORE my previous statements about how Savoie would be on the Sabres RIGHT NOW if he didn’t get injured & miss most of the preseason plus regular season time

Also, u don’t need to reappear yourself
I just don’t agree
