To sell or to buy? Personally, I believe we do neither, but would like to discuss the possibility of doing some wheeling and dealing to set up for next season.

UFAs that could obviously be dealt if Yzerman decided to sell:
Ghost - Would like to trade him. If not dealt, pls don't resign him. 2nd round pick does it for me and we can retain. Don't know who would want him honestly though.
Perron - He is so invaluable to this team. It's tough to realize unless you watch closely and noticed our suck when he was suspended. Would take a major offer for me to be ok with it. 1st plus. Unlikely. Would like to resign him. Same contract fine with me even if it's not the smartest. Just don't know with our logjam.
Sprong - Love Sprong. Would also take a lot for me to be ok with trading him. Value is maybe a 2nd but I wouldn't trade him for that. Would also like to resign him and same as Perron, not sure who we value giving those roster spots to.
Fischer - Like Fischer's game. Seems to be our most consistent player. Wouldn't trade him. Unless you got a crazy offer but don't see that. Would I resign him? yessss but it's the same issue with wanting to make at least a couple roster spots for younger guys.
Kane - I suspect a trade is highly unlikely. Verdict is still out on resigning him. I believe if we resign him, we have to trade Fabs or else Burgers is gone. Tough to not want him though with the way he produces offence.
Reimer - Don't care.

Others that could or maybe should be in play:
Maata - Teams looking for depth D for a run. Would think its more likely in offseason to create a roster spot, but demand is much lower then.
Veleno - His cheap contract made me think hm, he could be flipped in a similar fashion to Hagel or Jeannot with his rfa status and cheap price boosting his attractiveness. An early breakout further made this possible, but also made me think he has a bright future in Detroit. His regression back to earth makes me think an offer that blows Yzerman away enough to trade him is unlikely. But if something with a 1st was offered, would we take it? Creates a roster spot for Kasper/Danielson to compete for next season.
Berggren - Would be a sad day, he is doing very well in GR. Only happens if he demands immediate ice time and we can't guarantee him a spot for opening day next season.
Rasmussen - Another RFA that a capped out team could covet. Differently, would have to be more than blown away to accept a deal.
Fabbri - Trading Fabbri only happens if we want to make roster space, for ex. for Berggren. Unlikely in season, but offseason could retain 50% to make a roster spot. (Not saying Fabbri is bad and expendable, but it is an option)
Kostin - hasn't had the year player and team maybe hoped. Wouldn't expect movement especially with unlikely demand, but maybe a contender covets his toughness enough for a playoff run.


Losing Veleno and Ghost wouldn't be a moral boost to the room, but I don't think it will really make us a whole lot worse as we chase a playoff spot. Call up Kasper/ Berggren and edvinsson? I know Veleno plays a decent role... The picks allow us to do a bit more buying in the offseason though. Somewhat doubt Yzerman takes those guys away from GR's playoff run however. Very conflicting.
