I get where you are coming from, Novikov is having a pretty good first year in Rochester. Like to see where he goes. Plus he Russian and can play RD to. Think they are just letting him get used to Smaller rinks.

Shibby, I'm surprised at you -- I've always felt that you have a good appreciation for the needs of the other teams with whom you are proposing trades.

Anaheim is shallow and weak at RhD; Radko Gudas is the only NHL-quality RhD signed for 2024-2025, and at least one of Hellesen, Luneau or Warren is going to have to play his way on to the roster next season. So trading away one of them is a bad idea.

Anaheim is deep and strong at LhD, with Fowler, LaCombe, Mintyukov and Vaakanainen already on the main roster and Zellweger and Hinds in the pipeline. So Novikov is no one we would be interested in (unless he were free).

You do realize we have Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier right? We don't need a top 6 C.

Not trading a top shutdown D for a winger at all either. Timo, Bratt, Mercer (who absolutely is not being moved for Markstrom) all are top 6 guys, and then guys like Palat/Haula fight out for the right fits with Hughes and Hischier. We need shutdown D far more than wings who are easier to find.
