I was initially going to call this a slight overpayment by the Stars, then I saw Dadonov has a year remaining on his deal, so this is actually probably quite close, but I think the Flames would push for Stankoven or Bourque as we need a C more than a defender. Personally I'd pull the trigger though

It depends on what prospect you like the best. I personally think Bichsel has the potential to be a beast and would fit the Flames style. Bourque is the most NHL ready but doubt the Stars move him. That leaves Stankoven and I’m not high on him. Great junior players do not always translate that same success to the NHL. Especially given his stature.

Calgary passing on Stankoven looked like a mistake at the time and it's proving to be true. 57pts in 46 games as a first year pro.

What makes it even more confusing, they would have seen a lot of him with Kamloops.

In the AHL... Lot's of undersized players can pile up points there but flounder in the NHL. Mind you Stromgren hasn't been very good, Stankoven looks better now. Hopefully Conroy won't stack too many Swedes like Treliving did.

True. But he's looking a heck of a lot better than William Stromgren...

Bichsel is the better player between the two. Mavrik Bourque might be the best of them but the Stars keep him.

I don't know much about Bischel. I like his size but that's about all I can say regarding him and size alone isn't enough for the NHL. If he plays a physical game and is good enough for the NHL I'd be pretty happy with a 3rd pairing defenseman that big.

And yeah I like Bourque, he's a bit short but stocky enough to make up for it and as a right shot who can play center he fits Calgary's needs well.

I agree MB would be the best fit. Not sure what other team can pull off a better trade.

You do know that he is the leading point producer in the AHL…As a rookie. It’s an interesting comment coming from a Flames fan. The same team where Theo Fleury played.

Not a Flames fan. Not every smallish young skilled F is Fleury. I could be way wrong. It’s a coin toss if those types of players that are not drafted super high pan out. MB could very likely thrive in the NHL. Sure. Which is why the Stars keep him. Bichsel may not make it even though he’s a large player.
