Coots just got named Captain so don't think Philly does that deal, also don't think MTL does this deal since he doesn't fit our age window

Its a chance....part of me thinks he brings good size and leadership into that top 6 for the kids, and as the kids develop, he slides to 3C.

PHI probably won't, but the return is also based on the length and size of Coots deal, but for MTL its a good deal for 3-4 yrs at least, Barron is probably supplanted by Reinbacher/Maillot, getting the kids playing/development time with solid 2 way vets, bringing size and leadership into the top 6. I think it fits the window, because young guys like dach, slaf, beck, roy and newhook are here now

For PHI, who has RD options in youngsters Drysdale, York, Zamula, and prospects Bonk, Helge, they get a quality RD youngster in Barron (who's value is probably a late 1st and a 3rd/4th) more quality picks in 2024 and 2025, it fits their window too.

He also isn't more than a 60 point center anymore so I don't think he has 2 1sts + 2nd + 4th value. I still like the idea of Coots in Montreal though, he would be our new Damphousse and insurance in case Dach doesn't cut it as a center or gets injured again

Maybe not, but to be fair, hes been out of the NHL for 2 yrs, doesn;t have ppg assist men in Giroux or Voracek, and playing with a rotation of wingers besides Koneckny. Hes still on pace for 50+ and his back seems sorted, so maybe with quality wingers and "getting his game" back he'll settle in that 50-65 pt range. Its more about need, and hes kind of the right player/leader/size very much needed in MTLs top 6, but not at 1C.

Maybe remove Barron and add a lesser prospect like Engstrom, Miller, Tuch, Heineman or Kidney or drop the first and add another prospect like Farrell or Struble

I don't think the value is far off, I commented above on what I was thinking as options
