What pros? The "fourth period"? lmfao. I don't know why you included Monahan considering he still had 35pts in 49 games prior to being traded and there was a case made for him getting a first.

My "inability" to evaluate players is choosing not to spend a 1st on a dude who Sharks fans call a "support" player with terrible analytics.

I mean Ferraro has been in trade talks the last few years, and Sheng Peng (through interviewing league scouts) and Team 33 have all said Ferraro is worth about a late first / second, but the sharks past record / plus their rebuilding timeline suggests they would want a first to move him. Your inability to evaluate players is calling Ferraro bad, ignoring the context of his usage, using only analytics to evaluate a player and then unilaterally deciding that good players will stand out on bad teams no matter what when players blossom after changes in scenery all the time. Whether or not he is worth a first straight up is a better discussion, but even then that isn’t the case in this trade proposal either.

Monahan was scoring almost exclusively pp points while getting caved in at 5v5 w/ poor analytics. Most people were surprised a player like him returned a first and was considered generally a win for the Habs.

The best part about this whole thing is you've yet to provide any evidence as to why he'd be worth a 1st... just "watch a game". What am I watching, him getting shelled on a nightly basis? No thanks man.

Let another shmuck GM overpay for a "support" player that doesn't support anything.

Bro thinks watching a player is a bad way to get an understanding of their play lmao. What a waste of time

Been in trade talks the past few years and apparently worth a 1st yet is still on the Sharks to this day. Interesting. Wonder why no GM wants to fork over a first for him.

Playing loaded minutes and getting caved in them doesn't mean he'd magically do better in a lesser role. Even then, why is anyone paying a first just to have him slotted lower into the lineup? Just to hope he'd eat some magic beans and perform the complete opposite to what he has been the last two years?

All his time on SJS has shown he's not good in big roles and the only thing he's supporting is being a cap dump at this rate.

A bigger waste of time would be tuning into a Sharks game just to watch a support player provide no support to his team

Who tf is he gonna support? We have mikeal granlund as our number 1C. We have a full AHL line for our 4th line. 5/6 defenders we field every night are bottom pairing defenders. We have no one on this team man. This seems to be the piece youre missing.

Tell me what he's doing on the ice that makes him bad. Don't use analytics, explain what he's doing on the ice that makes him bad. And he's a shot blocking machine, so "getting Shelled" is the dumbest argument considering blocking shots from getting to his goaltending is one thing that he's one of the best at in the entire league

"Advanced Analytics" only matter when it supports their argument lol

Shot blocking is one of the most padded stats. It also only shows they just let a lot of shots at the net. Cool, he blocks shots but he can’t defend. He’s not a good defender.

I provided my sources. You just can’t handle when someone tells you that your player isn’t worth a 1st. Might be why he’s been rumoured to be on the block the last two years yet no GM wants to bite

Nothing you’ve said proves he’s worth a 1st. “But his team is bad!” yeah, and so is he. He’s a bad player on a bad team.

He’s not going to get traded for a first, eat some magic beans and turn into a norris caliber defenseman.

He hasn't been on the block lol. He's been actively looked at by teams. The Sharks org has said he's not going anywhere unless it's a very good return.

No one said he would be a Norris caliber defenseman, they dont get moved (EK65 special case). Ferraro is worth a first because he has a multi team market (competition drives up price), multi season team control at a very reasonable cap hit for a middle pair d-man, who in the appropriate role would be much more effective. He has good but not great transitional puck moving, the ability to kill a play with good consistency, and a good motor who blocks a lot of shots. He isnt a play driver or a great offensive weapon, but he has shown some flashes of better offensive play at points this season. The sharks also dont have any *need* to move him so those types of players generally get a better return than they are worth. I, however dont think he will actually get moved as the org likes him a lot.

Suggesting he’d be better on another team is still a hypothetical with no real evidence suggesting it’d be true. Bad players are just bad.

And ignoring the context of a players position and usage is just foolish. When the sharks were better, he was good on a good pairing with burnsy. When the sharks started to lose our star players he got worse. Being bad on a bad team doesnt make you a bad player and being good on a good team doesnt make you a good player, there is more to it than that. That’s why some moves are great and some moves are bad. If it was as simple as you want it to be there wouldnt be busts or bad trades.

It's a hell of a lot better than Ferraro that's for sure

You have Gio and some other AHL hall of famers. you'll be fine to exit in round 1 again
