I agree with you for the most part, Philly would need a good offer to move him, but that don't mean you overpay. They still said they are planning to stick to the rebuild, so they want to get something for him if hes not in their long term plan. Schenn went for a 3rd last year at the deadline, Seeler would have similar value considering the similar salary and low maintenance type defensive game.

Just because Niemela is a bit small, that doesn't mean you dump him for a bottom 4 rental at the deadline.

yeah, better over pay for a bottom pairing guy who doesnt move the needle because another team might over pay for a bottom pairing guy despite countless trades proving that teams get guys like seeler for a single 3rd rounder or less literally every year.

But Seeler is younger than Schenn and has been a steady presence in Philly. Maybe Niemela would be too much but I think it could cost a lot to get Seeler
