Why would Detroit get Saros?
Reimer has been playing well for Detroit.

The money is similar. Broken down - Saros for Berggren, Husso, and 1st. Carrier for Maatta and Johansson. (Maybe we send better D prospect?).
Nash basically getting NHL starting goalie back plus NHL D, 1st rd pick, NHL ready scoring forward, B prospect.

None of those players make sense for NSH.

Pretty sure Steve will just continue to put plugs in his net while Cossa and Augustine develop, rather than blowing a 1st rounder.

Not to mention Lyon has been insane all year and Reimer, while having some mind-numbing goals against, still has good overall numbers.

I agree totally - however with wings able to score with the best teams we need a stud in net or a trade for a top 4 D to compete in playoffs and take advantage of Kane right now

What about Yzerman has indicated that he's moving anything major to "Win now"...

A first or any prospect of significance is likely only getting moved for somebody Larkin's age or younger that'll be around for years.

Just thinking Saros 28 yrs old. Fits 5-7 yr window to win. Resign for 8-8.5 mil same as hellebuyck. (Husso, Reimer and petry off the books in a year pays for Saros at 8 mil plus). We’re loaded with picks And prospects and goalies aren’t readily available - and Saros has pedigree he can stop pucks and steal games.
There’s money left for Kane resigning, Seider and Raymond as I’ve paid for Saros extension with the three mentioned above.

Paying goalies rarely works out lol. Especially paying goalies well into their 30s. Especially when you've got two solid prospects coming up your own pipeline. Saros would be 38 when that contract ends.

Yzerman's playing the same game he played in Tampa, plugging the hole while he waited for Vasilevsky to develop.
