I'm all for this. Fill multiple holes and keep our 1st this year. Also, don't see Jones or Berard beating their competition (Othmann, Cuylle, Fortescue, etc) next year for a spot anyway.

It’s a miracle!!!!

The Berard love is a little crazy here tbh. He hasn’t been called up this year which tells me alot

Really depends on the outlook for Berard. His NCAA and AHL numbers look good. Ideally for this package of players, I'd like to get at least the equivalent of a first round pick. I really think this package returns a first especially considering the caps can just take the highest trade bid for these guys as a group or individually and probably get more. In a vacuum, if this trade happened, I'd probably not lose sleep over it. I just think it's missing a piece.

imo

Dowd = 2nd + Jones
Edmundson = Berard or a 3rd
Patches = 3rd

maybe missing a 3rd imo but its a pretty fair deal

Yep, I think this would be good. Even if it has to be a 2026 third, it would feel a little more complete with that extra piece.

He’s damn untouchable by some Ranger fans, Berard. FWIW

Jones doesn’t get enough respect from non Ranger fans imo. He’s a really good puck mover. PP2 guy. Robertson is also on the table he’s more of a defensive guy tho, both LHD

But I thought it was a good deal. Definitely could make it a little better, like conditional second maybe. Something like that

It may be my best work lmao 🤣 I think it definitely helps both organizations

Id either add a 3rd or make the 2nd conditional where you’d have to root for the rangers to make the finals 😉

i agree. In a perfect world some team gets extremely desperate and needs a bottom 6 defensive center and gives up a 1st for Dowd or we package Dowd + something to get a 1st. imo He's worth a 2nd + mid level prospect. Patch basically decides where he goes and Capitals just have to be happy to get anything for him. Edmundson would be great to just get our pick back we paid for him.

My biggest fear is the think we can contend and they decide to buy

I think they gotta sell off a couple pieces but also look at deals similar to what Sandin was last season. Guys like Holtz, Robertson, etc.

The last spot in the metro is up for grabs tho so they could buy lol. No one seems to want it at the moment. Philly will sell so it’ll probably be the devils Or isles who are def not selling

i would like to try to get a guy like Roberson, Kaliyev or even Wahlstrom but idk if we have enough roster spots for them while having Leonard rapidly becoming NHL ready. Miro is ready. Dube Frank Sutter are all good options also...

Yeah the Capitals suck but the coach is electric and has them believing they are Pittbulls when in reality we are Weiner dogs. I would love to sell and suck...maybe pick in the top 10. idk if that's possible anymore AZ is actively trying to set a loss record. Id be happy getting assets and drafting Iginla

He's earned a call-up just no space on LW for him. Best to maximize value and make a deal that helps the run this season.

Yea I agree. I have zero things against him, he’s just a good trade chip. He and jones or Robertson, and maybe Sykora, one two or three of them, I could see moved by next week. It a numbers game for some of these kids we have, we can’t keep everyone

I happen to like Sykora over Berard myself, but I see the opposite from other people. To each his own

From my in depth research on Berard and Jones (skimmed through their hockeydb pages for like 3 minutes) this seems fine -- as others have said, depends a lot on what Caps management thinks of those players, with non top-level prospects I think there's generally a much wider range of opinions around the league vs. among fans. That being said, I do think if they were offered this or just a 1st+3rd, they would take the picks.

Sykora Or Bedard are two guys rangers would probably dangle in trade talks, and take your pick which one another GM would prefer. Ranger fans are pretty split on who we like better. Me personally I’d like Sykora better, and I’d definitely prefer one of them over an unknown pick. Unless you have uber confidence in your front office/scouts

For D…Jones and Robertson are completely different players. Jones more offensive and much smaller, Robertson more defensive and very good size if you like that in a dman. Jones has played in the NHL and done ok I’d say. Hes definitely good with the puck, I don’t recall Robertson playing in the NHL yet but he’s blocked but I’d think one or the other would be our 6th guy next year because of their cheap contracts

If you’re old enough to remember rangers caps made a trade rangers truly regretted when they did Ridley and Kelly miller for Bobby Carpenter, so maybe you guys are due to fleece us again lol
