odd because there hasn't been a report about that. Pettersson said at the beginning in the year he will not talk contract until the offseason. that's what he is doing. if won't sign in Vancouver he certainly doesn't sign with the Islanders he wants to play for winning team not for a team that is 21st in the league and on the decline.

according to who? and also, even if that wasn’t true, he’s on a long contract. they’re wouldn’t just give him away to the Islanders for fun. and also, according to who?

that's still not how restricted free agency works. he can't choose his next team. if he signs an offer sheet, the canucks can match it and he would be their player for whatever the terms of the contract he signed was
