I would definitely run this roster next year. Signing both JJ and Quinn with a Pettersson extension might be tricky. Might have to find a way to dump Skinner or Clifton. Otherwise if Pettersson is even open to a long term deal in Buffalo im on board

I traded clifton.

A skinner buyout would likely be the result with 2 years left

Missed that my b, I wouldnt buy him out. a 6mill dead cap hit (26-27) when Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen, Benson and Tuch are all up for new deals scares me

Yes I saw, just something to be weary of if hes not dealt. Not all will need new contracts but looking two years down the line theres no telling who excels, is a bust or gets traded.

Not even close enough for Pettersson it's not like he's got a broken back. ☺ It's got to be a better return than the trade below.

Los Angeles Kings Acquire:
Pierre-Luc Dubois · $8,500,000
Sum: $8,500,000
Change: +$4,500,000

Trade

Winnipeg Jets Acquire:
Gabriel Vilardi · $0 (Signing Rights)
Alex Iafallo · $4,000,000
Rasmus Kupari · $0 (Signing Rights)
2024 2nd round pick (MTL)
Sum: $4,000,000

FYI Vilardi & Kapuri were 1st round picks

i'd imagine Cozens or Tage are a starting point in a Pettersson trade - at a minimum.

I mean this trade is significantly better than that.

You are getting a top 6 center, a top 4 defensmen, both signed for atleast 3 years, an A+ prospect who has multiple years of his ELC left, a top 10 pick and a conditional pick that could become a 2nd first. And a flier on a 2021 2nd round pick who left Russia as a teenager to play in AHL.

What other team is going to be demanded to trade a 94 point player making 7.1 million for 6 years

he had 1 season with 94 points, looking like he will cap out around 50-55 this year.
Petey on pace for his 2nd 100 point season in a row.

Mitts ain't cutting it bub.

I guess you missed all the other stuff in the trade

This is obviously only if he won't sign, so in that scenario who is beating this offer that can also pay him?

No one ever says that part

Pettersson is significantly better than Dubois. I don't believe the trade is significantly better it's bit better. I think Cozens and Mittlestadt would need to come back in return. Samuelsson is not a proven Top 4 IMO.

the starting point - did you miss that part?
Van is not losing a 100 point player for a middle 6 F and a middle pairing D.
the "other" stuff doesn't matter at that point.

Please tell me what other team will give close to what I just traded.

I'll take one comp

Even though it seems most of my other Canuck fans disagree I think this is a really strong offer although I do think they’d prefer Cozens over Mittelstadt. Personally I’d also want to push for either Quinn or Peterka to be included somehow

i haven't had the time to research who or what.
i'm telling you my opinion is that a 100 point player in the NHL doesn't get traded for what you are offering above.

can you really sit here and believe that Petey gets dealt to any team in the NHL for a middle 6 guy and middle pair dman, with some "other stuff"?

The prospect isn't close

The picks aren't close

Chytil has scary concussion issues

Lindgren doesn't have a contract.

Tage DOES have a contract.

Also, I asked who was beating buffalo's offer for Pettersson, not a non sequitur about Tage Thompson

I don't really agree with your assessments here of the assets.

I could see Vancouver go the older vet route like Calgary did, but you'd think they'd learn from that historic blunder

love how you're trying to trade for EP40 without including Thompson, Dahlin or JJP

VAN is not looking for futures at this point.
