Reworking caniac58s Nashville trade

Created by: gumshoeismygod
Team: 2023-24 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I thought the framework that canes58 laid out was interesting when it came to the salary matching, so I decided to tinker with it to see if I could make it more fair for Nashville. Upgraded Koivunen to Blake, giving Nashville I think a much more interesting prospect, while also changing the 2nd to a 1st and a 3rd.

In the ever so slight chance forsberg waives, we will have to ask for more Tuesday games to be scheduled.

Nashville would probably still decline. Blake is not the kind of prospect Nashville would target. KK and Necas are nice pieces but the 1st and 3rd don't cover the difference in value between them and Forsberg and Novak. I would think is Forsberg was available for trade he'd command a package similar to this without Novak being included. To get him out of Nashville you have to part with something you don't want to give up. Someone like Morrow or Nikishin would have to be included I think. Even then it's hard to say if Nashville would agree. Forsberg is a franchise winger for Nashville and they'd need to get back so much just to make sure fans wouldn't riot over losing Fil.

I think if the Preds made a deal for Necas, it'd be to pair him with Forsberg long term.

If NSH were to trade away Forsberg (and Novak), that's a clear sign they're planning to bottom out for lottery picks for the next few years. Replacing Forsberg with a younger, but lesser winger doesn't make sense for them. Neither does taking Kotkaniemi. If CAR had to send a cap dump or two back to make it work, that's understandable. But someone with only a year more max - like when NSH took Barrie, to make the Ekholm trade work. A bad contract as long as Kotkaniemi's is unreasonable.
