That SEA trade may be the worst trade I’ve seen on here in quite some time, man.

That calgary trade would be a disaster for NJD.

I wouldn't give up Siegs+Marino for Tanev+Hanifin let alone add all of that

There’s no way SEA is trading Daccord anyway, so the deal just wouldn’t happen.

Replacing Siegenthaler with Tanev is a lateral move, I think Tanev is the better player but losing a lock down defenseman with term for a rental doesn't make sense to me.

If the Devils wanted both players, Casey is a good piece, Stillman is a good piece and the rest outside of the roster players is quantity over quality.

Hanifin & Tanev

for

Casey, Stillman, Bahl, 2025 1st, prospects.

But then you run into the cap. It's going to be borderline impossible for a team to meet Conroy's asking price for both guys in one deal.

Make it simple.

Bahl+1st+Stillman for Hanifin.

Casey not available in my eyes unless you’re chucking in Markstrom as well.

If it’s Casey it’s a 3rd. I would rather give up a 1st+3rd instead of Casey and would happily sub that in for him in any trade.

Casey+3rd for Hanifin

Casey+1st+3rd for Hanifin+Markstrom

1st+2nd for Hanifin unretained or equivalent value

1st for Markstrom.

At least on here I just saw a sharks fan offer of 14th overall (pittsburgh pick)+4th rounder+Nico Strum for Casey.

John Marino's twin brother works in analytics dept for LAK....we can hire him...

But no way we should be giving away that many players with years of team control for rentals.

I don't want to seem like I'm gloating but:

"Everyone in here I really respect everything that's been going on and not going on and how everyone in this room has handled everything. I think it's been really good. I'm happy about that. I think it could have been handled a lot different from up top.” -Jacob Markstrom

Of course it could be handled differently, like every situation surrounding trade talks. 1st year GM, media frenzy and being 1 of 2 top goalies available. He can be unhappy with how it was handled that's fine.

When I claimed this exact thing a few weeks ago you claimed I was being ridiculous and "how could I know how Markstrom feels"

So what would he have liked handled differently from up top? Is it regarding his name being in trades? Is it about moving out a ton of guys but holding onto him? Is it about a message sent to the room that they're still pushing while moving people out? Is it that they didn't move guys out earlier? Is it that he didn't think that there was good communication? Is it that he doesn't like that a trade fell through? Is it that the trade was in place before he was approached to waive? Was he asked to waive and the trade fell through? You genuinely still know nothing outside of a vague quote.

If I was negotiating trades involving Markstrom I would have asked him which teams he was open to waiving for as a starting point and been open with him through the whole process. Also the leaks coming out where random Calgary fans are hearing **** from employees and people close to the team should have been much better managed. Keep a tighter ship.

There's one team in desperation mode for a goalie... you approach him and say, where would you be willing to waive and please say it's only New Jersey... You're still thinking you've got an inside track on all of this when a vague statement came out that he's unhappy with some aspect of the trade talks. What was the questions that lead to the quote? Especially coming from Eric Francis.

Did you expect markstrom to come out in the media and say "**** the GM"? In NHLer interview terms, "Things could have been handled differently" is MAJOR

Hahaha this is the most dramatic recreation of the scenario I have heard. Again, what was the question?

The front office and ownership very clearly.

Does Jacob Markstrom have to spell it out letter by letter for you?

Pretty easy to pin it on Conroy if you so choose to be intellectually lazy with it, but the Flames ownership has always been hands on while refusing to retain. You can either jump to your conclusion to pat yourself on the back or look at the big picture. Up to you!
