Selling and buying

Created by: JayTea
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2024
Published: Feb. 28, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade away some players they likely won't be resigning, retain some salary on another deal and bring in a cheap RHD for the bottom pair and see what happens. I can't see the Wild doing much beyond this.
Trades
1.
BUF
  1. 2024 5th round pick (BUF)
2.
MIN
  1. 2024 4th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Cheap depth
NYR
  1. Dewar, Connor ($400,000 retained)
3.
MIN
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Could be more, could be less. Argue away pointlessly in the comments.
VAN
  1. Duhaime, Brandon ($550,000 retained)
  2. Merrill, Jon
Additional Details:
According to Russo, Vancouver is interested in both of them. I can see why they'd want Duhaime, but for Merrill let's just hope they accept before their scouting staff gets back with an update.
4.
MIN
  1. Tarasenko, Vladimir ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Enroute to a contender
OTT
5.

Random contender, substitute whatever team could use him.
VGK
  1. Tarasenko, Vladimir ($1,250,000 retained)

Do you think Merrill and Duhaime would be good fits for the Canucks?
Tarasenko isn't a good fit in Minny - Maybe a team like Vegas, Boston, Edmonton, Vancouver, etc would acquire him at the Trade Deadline.

Lol they literally have Tarasenko going to VGK in this very proposal.

Duhaime would be good for a playoff team. Merrill.. I have no idea why Vancouver supposedly would want him. Supposedly Russo said they were interested. To be fair, he's not terrible if his minutes are limited. He's fine in a pinch for bottom pairing duties, but I just don't see him as being a dman suited for playoff style hockey so that's why it sounds odd to me that supposedly Vancouver is interested.

Tarasenko isn't staying in Minnesota, they're just retaining 25% and sending him to a contender that needs scoring. In this case, I said Vegas because they have some room with Stone being out.

Duhaime to Vancouver makes sense, but maybe another player like Sammy Blais would be another fit for Vancouver.
What do you think?

I know I've seen him play, but can't remember much about him. To be fair, if I wasn't a Minnesota fan I'd probably say the same about Duhaime. haha

There would be more, the 5th is just for the 25% retention. I just didn't feel like putting in whatever Vegas sends to Ottawa since they were just a placeholder for any contender that wants him.
