Best-case realistic TDL and off-season without Celebrini

Created by: CertifiedAverage
Team: 2024-25 Columbus Blue Jackets

Description
Basically a best case scenario for me without the CBJ winning the draft lottery. I assume they draft Berkly Catton, who spends another year in the juniors.

Bean and Texier could be moved. Provorov is just a placeholder for Mateychuk and if CBJ don't make the playoffs, he can be sold at the 2025 TDL for a 1st.

RFA salary based on this:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1R0mzG_2auhSGxLZ_LoiE9EwK8enxbNbw0BGqDVmKlu0/edit?usp=drivesdk

I think this would be a significantly improved Blue Jackets team. On the other hand, I thought so before this year too. But with the added players as well as Catton, Brindley, Malatesta, Dumais, Mateychuk, Svozil and Ivanov all in the pipeline, I would be very optimistic.

Let me know what you think!

I like this. RFA values seem fair, trade valuations are reasonable, and I think the right pieces are going out. Maybe a team takes a chance on Tarasov for a late-round pick, but he certainly doesn't look like he has an NHL future with us. If Laine/Gaudreau bounce back and the kids keep developing, that's a solid core.

My personal hope is for another RD stud prospect with the 1st-rounder if we don't win the lottery, one of Levshunov or Parekh. This team is loaded with top-6 potential forwards, but none of the RD in the system aside from Jiricek look to be top-4 guys (including Gudbranson and potentially Severson). Any kind of clear team direction would be nice though, there's just too many pieces that don't fit together.

Levshunov would be ideal, but not Parekh. I don't think another Adam Boqvist/Denton Mateychuk is very interesting. Or the forwards, honestly. It's weird to go into the draft and not have a strong preference like I have in the past few years (really wanted Jiricek and then Carlsson, for example).

For me, I would be perfectly alright with a potential future top 2 C or top 4 D. I like Catton myself, since he is a playmaking two-way C, who should pair well with Fantilli. Any of the top three D (Dickinson, Levshunov, Silayev) or Buium would probably be fine by me.
