Ottawa is probably not trading a middle sixer on a good contract for a middle sixer on a bad contract, without getting much more as a sweetener.

Picks are mostly due to the potential $1.5-2M retention, not the prospect

Joseph and Mikheyev have similar production, one costs $1.8M more. Does it really cost a 1st to swap similar players?

Mikheyev has three less points in ten more games, isn't nearly as good defensively, and makes about 60% more money. A 2nd is not enough to make this make sense for Ottawa.
