This guy assumes Tkachuk is replaceable in free agency oh boy 💀

Artemi Panarin hit UFA as a much better player than Tkachuk and got 11.6. John Tavares hit UFA as a much better player than Tkachuk and got 11. Sam Reinhart who I'd take over Tkachuk will be available this summer potentially for I imagine around 11.

The odds of an Artemi Panarin level player hitting free agency and choosing your team out of the 32 is extremely rare lmao. NJ missed out on Gaudreau for free and had to pay assets for Meier

And both those guys had a reason to have limited offers.

I would legit trade Brady to SJ if they offer the highest package

None of those offers will be what you think.

Just because teams CAN bid does not mean they will, or that they will offer vast packages.

A 4 way bidding war for Matthew Tkachuk at 9.5x8 goes a lot higher than a 32 way bidding war for Brady Tkachuk.

Yeah and Calgary got a 115pt player , a 2 way top pair RD and a 1st. Who knows how much they would’ve got if they were rebuilding. NJ offered 2nd overall +++ .

We also hit on the top available UFA in dougie hamilton. Regardless that's just an example. You can also replace production in the aggregate with multiple smaller pieces, and the team needs cap space for other assets.

For example Mercer on a 4x4, and then a mid 1st+5.2 mill to play with goes further than Tkachuk+Scrub

Yes because Tkachuk was a legitimate 100+ point RFA superstar. BRADY IS NOT THAT GOOD.

8 years of Matthew Tkachuk at 9.5 mill is worth immensely more than 5 years of Brady Tkachuk at 8.2 mill.

    Valuations:

    Matthew: 14.5 million
    Brady: 11 million

    Surplus value

    Matthew: 40 million (5x8)
    Brady: 14 million (2.8x5)

You go propose Schneider+Laffy+3 1sts for Brady Tkachuk then from NYR (Because the gap between Nemec and Schneider is MULTIPLE 1sts)

I think something the equivalent of :
    Laf
    Schneider
    1sf

    Is what it would take

Mmm…I’m not high on Laf, but he’s only 22 and showing improvement this season. Still not what you’re expecting as the #1 pick in the draft. Maybe add another pick or prospect. Laf would probably be a 100 point player once traded…just typical lol

We don't have the assets but

Nelson at 50% retained + 3rd for a team to retain (1.5 mil)
    Danny Nelson
    Holmstrom
    Romanov
    2 firsts

Islanders definitely don't have the asset but it is what I'll do
