You don’t get it.

The Canes wouldn’t extend JG for what he wanted, so in no way would they ever consider trading Necas, still an RFA with some team control, for a soon to be 30yr old UFA.

doubtful. 5 million for a guy who will be 30-35 versus 9+ million for a 30-35 year old. Massive difference in contract risk especially when one guy has already excelled in this system.

I have the same position with Ned as I do with Lindgren when WAS fans go around demanding a 1st or 2nd for him: a small sample of good play doesn't remove a track record of pretty mediocre play from a middle-aged goalie. You're free to disagree but I don't think there would be many comparables for your proposal.

That aside, Ruhwedel is a clear 7 that wouldn't see regular ice time in EDM. Even if I pretend that Lavoie isn't worth more than him (something I don't believe), the 2nd is worth more than I'd give for Ned.
