The leafs just traded for a guy who sucks because the gm prefers hits to actual defense, why are they now paying more for a guy with an even worse contract?

Put him on a good team and watch him cook. Contract isn't terrible.

he's been a horror show on like 10 different teams at this point in his career. He is just a very very bad defender, and yes, his contract is awful

Aside from Columbus having no appetite to move either player, I'm concerned that Gudbranson is getting a better return than Jenner...

We'd probably take the Gudbranson trade, but I doubt the Leafs do. He's got more internal value than trade value, so he'll probably finish out that contract in Columbus. Jenner just isn't available, best to move on.

You asked for Jenner; you already know the answer on that one.

As for the Gudbranson deal... I'd kind of feel bad for the Leafs if we accepted that.
