He's doing okay but his $4.5M cap hit is killer for a guy that plays 3rd pair minutes; they need to shed that contract.

I don't think Middleton is worth anything near a 1st; there should be some "good enough" options in UFA that will be cheap and won't cost them anything if they're looking for a 3rd pair minutes guy. They'll need some more cap space for a scratch and call-ups so they'll need someone making Jack Johnson money to be that 6th D. I do like that first trade and I appreciate that you accounted for Landy coming back. Chatfield is, to me, a good target for the Avs.

Yeah he's been really good this year, but avs will need to shed money, and getting out of his deal before he declines is smart IMO

I forgot to link to it but this is a continuation of a previous AGM I did where the avs acquire him at the 24' deadline, hence the first

Guy has been playing great and plays pk and shoots right... Girard is the most expendable dman we have and makes more money.. but what I was getting at was that he's worth more than value above

Girard is a lot younger, makes slightly more and has one more year than Manson; it's a pretty big overstatement to say he's the "most expendable" D they have. I would say Manson has been playing fine, not great and, bottom line, he plays 3rd pair minutes for the Avs. They cannot afford to spend $4.5M on a guy playing 3rd pair minutes and his contract was basically made for being traded after this season. I do agree he has value but I can't say anyone paying much more than that for a guy his age with two years left at that amount.

Girard and Manson are playing comparable minutes at this point in the season, bednar was playing Manson less early on because of last year's injury..

Girard is small and not very physical, Manson is the opposite. Manson slides in right behind makar on the right side the left side has toews and either Byram, Girard or Johnson depending on the situation.. Girard does nothing that toews, makar, Byram can't do but worse then them.. not to mention they have behrens and guluyev in the system. Manson brings alot more of a defensive punch while not slouching in the offensive side of play...

I really don't understand when people tell me that they'd rather have Girard than Manson, Manson was a big part of the cup winning team while Girard was injured halfway through the run.
