Jake to Nucks for Untouchable Prospect

Created by: SoCalGm
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 29, 2024
Published: Mar. 4, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Pens and Nucks fans will both hate this deal LOL. But here's my rationale. Deal is basically Guentzel for Lekkerimaki. 2nd rounder for salary retention and a former Soo Greyhound (we know Dubas loves that) that could be a C+ - B+ prospect.

I’d like it if that 2nd had a potential upgrade to a 1st.

To recap: Guentzel is 29. Smallish. Injured. Played on Sids line practically the whole time. Wil want $8M + next season and has 20 goals this year (on Sids line). Hoglander has 19. Giving up your best (or second best or 3/4/5 etc) prospect for this guy is a GIANT mistake.

Incredible how dumb this post is and how little you know about the player.

He'd be a rental for the Canucks. If they're giving up a prime prospect, they for sure aren't giving up a pick as well. Great for the Pens if they get more elsewhere, but there's no way the Canucks are including even a 2nd, let alone a first plus Lekkerimäki.

He should get more than Lindholm or Horvat and you’re saying he should get less.

Really, dumb? What part exactly? His goals this year, his line mate, his age, what he will expect next year, the fact he's probably just a rental, his injury status, the fact the Canucks will have to give up a top prospect to get him? Whats dumb or cowardly are open ended comments with no justification for a slur. A little bit like me insinuating it sounds like you have a man crush on the guy.........or may be not.

Everything you wrote is absurd. He is a better player than every single winger the Canucks have. His line mate means what exactly? Why do you people who try to say he’s overrated bring that up as if it actually helps your horrid argument? It honestly just hurts it and makes it look as awful as it is. Why? We’ll see if you can follow this rather simple logic my confused Canuck friend… how many wingers has Crosby played with in his nearly 2 decades? Now how many have produced at a consistent level like Jake has? I’ll save you the time, ZERO. Jake is objectively the best winger Sid ever played with and it’s actually not close. It’s also a fact that Jake is a PPG player in the 39 games he played WITHOUT Sid in the lineup.

Now you say again he is “smallish” as if that’s somehow a problem. What decade are you living in? The forwards are smaller than they were 20 years ago. The leading scorer in the league weights 180 lbs. Who gives a crap if he is “smallish”? His goals are down because his play making is up! Who do you think is getting Sid the puck so he can be in the top 10 goal scorers in the league? In short, yes you were a long dumb stuff and I will laugh when Vegas pays us for him and they bounce you out of the playoffs.

The level of prospect has to matter. Lekkerimaki is on a way higher level.

My point more than anything is that if the Pens insist on a 1st and Lekkerimaki, I can't see the Canucks signing up for it.

I think given the report Dubas wants players over picks you may be able to save picks but Raty and Lekkerimaki would be a solid proposal.

I can tell theres a full on man crush and your having difficulty accepting the facts. Will there be tears when he leaves? Get a grip. There's nothing in what I wrote that isnt true. He's at the end of a career where he was lucky to play with one of the best players in the world. He's a perfect target for over payment and I hope to god its not the Canucks and your right that Vegas outbids them, and gets stuck with him. ON that we agree.
