Kinda seems like a lot to give up. Both sides probably say no, tho.

That first line would be fun to watch

Maata wouldn’t make the lineup, LD is our deepest position

The trade is missing anything close to Zegras in value (which is probably why you threw in 3 assets). Kasper producing at less than .5pt/g in the AHL does not buy Zegras, no matter what accessory pieces you add.

Lebrun dispelled the Zegras trade rumor weeks ago, he isn’t available. If you want to buy a 22 year old stud that isn’t available it will cost pieces you don’t want to trade. That’d be one of Danielson or Pelikka as the starting point for Detroit. If they’re off the table that’s very understandable, we’ll more than happily keep buying Zegras threads in ANA

Just so you know, Kasper is higher rated than Danielson. At least in the athletic's last rating. Don't let his scoring pace affect your judgement, he came off of surgery this season and has been producing at close to PPG levels as of late. He is also a beast without the puck, which was the main reason he was drafted so high. He was also given 4th line minutes to start the season and has now locked down the 2C position. We don't trade for Zegras if it includes one of Kasper, Edvinsson, Danielson or ASP. The fit likely isn't there for both teams.

He has 4 points in his last 10 games. But yeah everyone has different preferences, I just like Danielsons prospects more and ASP fits an ANA need at RD

But agree fully, if those guys are off the table (and I totally get why they would be) both teams can just wish each other well

Kasper is exactly the player Yzerman loves. Zegras is damn near the opposite.

Maybe this trade happens if Yzerman suddenly got fired, quit, or was struck by a meteor or something? I dunno. It ain't while he's the GM, though.

Scott Wheeler is a stat watcher lol. It's the exact reason why he predictably ranked ASP above Kasper and Danielson. It's the exact reason he slighted Seider right up until he was in the NHL as a #1D immediately.

He has no idea how to evaluate players beyond reading a box score, and puts zero value on ability away from the puck.

I don't disagree, I've never been a fan of him. I'm sure their rankings are a bit more than just his own opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few scouts that give their opinions for those things.

I don't believe he's ever noted that the list has contributions from others. He and Pronman regularly do their own separate lists.

And usually if there's more than one contributor, the Athletic will either name everybody or define it as "NHL Staff".

Button is another one. Regularly disregards defensive ability. I dunno that I'd call him as blatant of a "Stat Watcher" as Wheeler, because Button at least has some credibility, but his lists are heavily influenced by the WJC.
