If Hanifin resigns 7x7 in Tampa, Stamkos is 100% gone.

Florida can afford him but resigning will also be very hard. Montour Forsling Lundell Reinhart all need a deal. If Hanifin extends in FLA, Ekblad is 100% gone to make space for both Montour And Forsling.

Boston is reluctant to trade away high picks and prospects after last years deadline. They could easily resign him and make a deal happen but they don’t a first until 2026.

Toronto is not a fit and price too high for them.

4 more sleeps and we find out.

I would be surprised if Boston paired Lohrei and a first.

There are other defenseman in free agency who would be a better fit playing next to McAvoy, but Lindholm is also a great fit with him and Hanifin could play with Carlo.

Florida would have to thread a needle with their existing players and giving up Ekblad when teams know you have to trade him isn’t the most likely scenario. My guess is Forsling would become even more appealing than he is in the FA market.

TB really going to walk away from Stamkos altogether OR would it make more sense to go with him / a cheaper defender?

I don’t believe he ends up with Boston, but let’s see how it plays out.

if you're a calgary fan, sure.

doesn't make any sense for boston, or any team to pay an unprecedented deadline price for hanifin though.

@Shaun80

I agree that the bones of this deal make sense, but I do think it is excessive in terms of what other teams will give considering Hanifin’s preferences in resigning.

If Calgary added Etienne and Boston added a 2026 2nd, I would be open to including Lohrei and a first. I might be willing to add a secondary prospect like Beckett Hendrickson
