The Reporting indicates Dubas prefers players to picks

Created by: edeangel84
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2024
Published: Mar. 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
“The sense is the Penguins after that road trip have a very clear sense of what needs to be done before Friday's deadline. And charting a course accordingly. Exploring all options with view to bolster the club for the future. Hearing there's 6-plus legit suitors for Guentzel, VGK and VAN among them.”
Lebrun

On the "32 Thoughts" podcast, Friedman said:
“Pittsburgh is telling teams they don’t want picks for Guentzel, they want prospects, that’s what they prefer, when you look at the teams that have some of the best prospects, Carolina is right up there.”

Yohe’s reporting backs this up as well as an incoming firesale that I’m sure will go into the summer.

My order of preference based on what they can pay:

1 Vancouver
2 Carolina (highly doubtful)
3 Vegas (most likely)
4 Kings
5 Rags
6 Avs
7 Oilers
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Brisson, Brendan
  2. Dorofeyev, Pavel
  3. Howden, Brett
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
I still think Vegas is destination numero uno. They pay
VGK
    Jake with retention
    2.
    PIT
    1. Bains, Arshdeep
    2. Lekkerimäki, Jonathan
    3. Mikheyev, Ilya
    4. Räty, Aatu
    Additional Details:
Jake at 50%. Taking Mikheyev back gives them a better chance at resigning him.
    VAN
    3.
    PIT
    1. Bourgault, Xavier
    2. Broberg, Philip
    3. Foegele, Warren
    4. Lavoie, Raphael
    5. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
They have awful assets and I hope they aren’t in play.
    EDM
    4.
    PIT
    1. Blake, Jackson [Reserve List]
    2. Koivunen, Ville
    3. Ponomarev, Vasili
    4. 2024 2nd round pick (CAR)
    CAR
Jake 50%. They have some decent prospects but they also are not aggressive at the deadline and I doubt they are going to make a serious bid.
      5.
      PIT
      1. Kakko, Kaapo
      2. Othmann, Brennan
      3. 2024 1st round pick (NYR)
      4. 2026 3rd round pick (NYR)
      Additional Details:
I am no big fan of Kakko and I would hate to see Jake in that Rag sweater but I’m sure they’ll make a bid.
      NYR
      6.
      PIT
      1. Connors, Kenny [Reserve List]
      2. Kaliyev, Arthur
      3. Turcotte, Alex
      4. 2024 1st round pick (LAK)
      Additional Details:
They once had a very impressive prospect pool but the forwards really have shown little so far. I doubt they are a major player.
      LAK
      7.
      PIT
      1. O'Connor, Logan
      2. Olausson, Oskar
      3. Ritchie, Calum [Reserve List]
      4. 2026 2nd round pick (COL)
      Additional Details:
If Ritchie panned out this would be a decent return but he’s still no where near the NHL and I doubt his happens.

Lekkerimaki is still not available and that isnt changing. Canucks arent trading him Hoglander or Willander for a half season rental

Canes tend to be aggressive at the deadline, but they don't overpay. They don't get involved in bidding wars. If the value is right, they'll pull the trigger. This is way too much, especially for a rental.

NYR decline. Not trading both Kakko + Othmann for a rental. NYR cannot afford Jake next year

We've made our big move and Lekkeriamaki is our top prospect, we just took Willander over guys like ASP and Zach Benson and Hoglander has thrived in his role this year. Just cause we're being mentioned by reporters doesn't mean they are offering up any of those 3 guys. I dont think the Canucks are the team Guenztel ends up in as i feel another team pays more than us, i could be wrong but thats just my stance.

Raty simply isn’t good enough to drive a trade for a top 15 NHL winger.

I really don’t want the Canucks to trade for Jake, but If they give up that much for him…. I’m going to jump ship become a flames fan….

I’m ok with Raty and a mikeyev in a trade but would rather someone with term, and maybe a bit younger

Would love to see something like raty, podkolzin, 1st and mikeyev for Dylan Cozens from Buffalo he’s been underperforming and might need a bit of a change

I also don’t think bains is getting traded I bet he makes the team out of camp next year and by the end of the year riding along side miller and brock

Whew that's a rough offer... two of our five best prospects + 2nd is just too much

Vegas probably has an easier time doing that than anyone else involved. You’ll have quite a bit of space to resign him.

Neither one of you know your GM to well.
      A. he'll be resigned by JR.
      B. JR doesn't give a crap about futures. If he see's his shot to win a cup is now, he's taking it.
1 cup in hand is worth more than "future chances" that might never get anywhere.
JR will deplete your entire prospect pool and draft stock..... but in the process you'll win a cup or two.

GM president same thing... Point being. JR has his hands on your team. Your prospects and draft picks are out the window man.
He's there to win a cup.... as in NOW.
