Big trades: Thinking about the future w/o forget about the present.

Description
Trade Draisaitl for Kessel, Ian Cole, prospect and high picks is the better way to avoid cap issues on the future and still keep strong.

The trade for Tatar is also necessary, cause the Oilers options for the top 6 RW are not so good this season.

Trade Ian Cole to the Devils and then trade for Colin Miller is necessary, cause Oilers already have too many left handers on the defense. Unfortunately for them Russel and Sekera have tough contracts to be swallow for any team by trade. This is the reason that I had to trade Cole.

PS: After the next season, probably I'll trade RNH or Strome, cause Oilers won't have enough cap to handle both salaries. This is why I involved Blandisi in the Cole's trade. He's a promise center prospect who can fill the 3rd line center in the season 18/19.

PS.1: Signing Jagr is interesting, cause he's still a good offensive producer and would just have a one year contract, something good in a team trying to avoid cap issues on the future.

Only problem is the cap as a lot of these players are gonna get new contracts next season or the one after that

Kessel hated the media attention in Toronto. It's the same here so I don't think it would work

As a Pen's fan I was playing around with this idea. I haven't been following the EDM news -- what type of contract do they think he's going to get?

Jagr, Letestu, Maroon and Jokinen will be gone. RNH will be traded. And Russel, Nurse or Miller can be traded either. Oilers can promote their prospects to fill the spots. Guys like Blandisi, Pakarinen and Mantha can play as regular starters, for example. And Oilers can trade for cheaper players and good prospects. It's a manageble situation.

He's more mature and have 2 SC now and was pretty much important in both. He don't have the same pressure to be decisive that he had before. I think this could help him to handle all the media and fan pressure.

Besides, in Edmonton all the attention goes to McDavid. The same happens in Pitt with Sid, Geno and Letang. It's different in Toronto. There he was the only star and had all the attention and pressure around him.

I'm not from Edmonton, but I read somenthing about 9M, today. If this is right, then Pens would have to rule him out, cause would put them in cap troubles too.

Maybe the fact to play for the 2 times in a row SC champions and alongside Sid and Geno would help
Pens to convince him to accept a 8M salary. Who knows...

Let's see what's gonna happen in the next days...
