The issue with the canes is they lack high end Canadian talent. That competitive edge is lacking. Every cup winner over the last 15 years has had a top 4 overall Canadian pick on their roster, and 13 of those teams were top 1 or 2.

I would trade you Brayden Tracey straight up for Suzuki. The rest of that Vatrano trade is nonsense.

I feel like there would be a very specific situation i would be ok with the Canes dealing Pesce. Would really be to get a forward who actually moves the needle with another move in place to get another solid DFD. I don't trust Deangelo with that top 4 spot and with guys like Tanev off the board a while ago, I just don't see a situation personally where Pesce is traded and the Canes get much benefit from it this season.

Exactly my thought. And ANA trading for someone with the hope they can sign them is also not ideal. If he walks in FA it’s a big miss.

Canes keep him for the run, ANA swing for him in the offseason. If CAR want Vatrano, they trade futures. Everyone happy
