Zibanejad is a good player but 5 million dollars is probably a bit too much.

Looking at what the Lightning just signed their two young centers for, Mika is probably worth slightly less. However, in order to eat up years of UFA in his prime, youre going to have to offer a little more cash. 4.875 - 5 over 5 years sounds about right. It's a good 1.5m less than what Stepan was about to make...and Mika actually has the ceiling to be a true #1. I would be fine with a deal in this range.

2018 draft is said to be a deep one. Not saying Little isn't a solid player, but I don't think a 1 year left on his deal/2nd line center is worth a 1st rounder in 2018, especially in the summer (maybe he is more valuable by the deadline when teams are really hungry).

2nd tier prospect + 2nd rounder in 2019 sounds good...but that's jmo

I read an article that proposed Little and was curious what it would look like. I agree that this would end up being a deadline deal, but I imagine with Winny's stingy GM, a 1st rounder might end up being the winning bid for a win-now team with cap space. I figured 5-for-5 was a safe cushion for Zibby. Thanks for the input. Been doing this GM nerd stuff on NHL 15/16/17 and then I find this! Love this crap!

Idk enough about Little's value to make an opinion about the trade.

Mika's contract (like it or not) is realistic.

Buying out Staal is the wrong decision. It makes more sense financially to buy his contract out after this season.
