That is a TON to give up for Lindholm. I would do a 1st and a prospect.

Ultimately, I think Boston is interested in Lindholm.

Ullmark, DeBrusk, and $3.25M of retention this year for Lindholm, Schmid, and a 2nd round pick.

Lindholm and Swayman get extended while opening up a slot of Lysell and Lohrei for this year.

As a Canucks fan, I wouldn't say no to that. I think it probably solves a lot of the Canucks holes up front, and allows them to slot Hoglander lower in the lineup...

Not so sure about this from the NJ or Boston perspective. At face value, it does seem like a lot to give up for Lindholm. But your breakdown above is correct, and you are also reallocating the Ullmark money, which is valuable.

I do, regardless of how others feel, really like the creativity. And seeing a deal that isn't trying to fleece the Canucks lol.

I think it basically fills the voids of all three teams.

I think it accomplishes what Vancouver wanted with the Guentzel deal without having to dip into your prospect pool further AND it gives you another top 6 option at the same time

It secures the #1 goalie for NJ without having to give up more attractive young assets or a #1

It gets Boston the center they obviously covet as well as gets them one additional second round pick and they don’t touch their young prospect list.

All three teams in a deal generally have to have a little pain or it wouldn’t be realistic

I was sad to see Edmundson go to Toronto. Boston will likely need to sign a more physical third line defenseman next year. I might consider sending Forbort to Providence and calling up Regula who has been very good at Providence this year

@dgibb10 This is why I generally covet the pick vs the cash. I think Boston can come up with an attractive option for Vancouver.

I know you covet Schmid as a 3rd rounder. I look at him as another option for a goalie and don’t really differentiate him from other options I think I can get.

Absolutely fair. If it came down to it I'd do it.

We’ve had a ton of discussions and thrown out many variations. If I were Sweeney, this is the deal I’d be trying to get done.

It’s with three interested parties that each gain something from it. Frankly, I think it fills the biggest open issue areas for each team.

It has risks for each team no doubt, but I think the potential benefit far outweighs it.

This would be fine if he was the player he was last year.

You're taking a huge gamble that he turns his season around. He already has shown he can't be a difference maker in VAN.

If this is going to be the price for him, I don't want it.

It doesn’t matter. Sweeney targeted him pre the Vancouver trade and again just days ago. I doubt it was opportunistic or he’d just wait for free agency. It’s obvious he thinks he can reclaim him by putting him in a better position.

If this is what it takes, I take the swing.

My assumption is people who won’t like this deal have soured on Lindholm completely and don’t want him at all. Totally understandable why, but I think there is smoke here. This way keeps all our future assets in tact and adds one
