Trades

WSH
  1. 2024 4th round pick (COL)
  2. 2024 5th round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Maybe not Colorado...but he "could" be better suited NOT in DC. This has been a huge bust of a signing. Retain some cap hit, maybe a late round pick swap to augment
COL
  1. Kuemper, Darcy ($1,250,000 retained)
  2. 2025 5th round pick (WSH)
2.
WSH
  1. 2024 7th round pick (OTT)
  2. 2026 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Either TvR or Jensen will be moved over the summer, so I am hoping WSH can get some middle picks to dump more salary
3.
WSH
  1. 2025 2nd round pick (MIN)
  2. 2026 5th round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
A player well past him prime that does not defend "well" but can qb the power play and he brings name recognition. Granted $8M is a huge contract...but maybe find some GM interested

If Carlson is only fetching a 2nd I’d rather just keep him tbh.

Other moves look good tho. I agree that the Caps should not try to flip this retool around too fast, as fun as it is to think up some Tkachuk/Keller/etc. trades & signings

I think Leonard makes the team Immediately. Him not being in your top 9 let alone your team isn't right there

Minnesota probably doesn’t have the cap, might as well retain on Carlson and try to get the best return possible, probably going to need 3/5 years anyway to rebuild.

Minnesota doesn't have the cap space, and would also have no interest in an agin defenseman when we have good younger defenseman and are trying to get younger.

What about 2 second rounders? I mean he is rather passed his best years and that injury last year has hampered him.

FAIR. But let's call Minn a placeholder for "any team" willing to take on that contract.

FAIR assessment, but I am not 100% sure so I kept Oshie in there maybe 20-30 games.

I would try almost certainly won't be Colorado on that one. Can't afford him. Simple as that. The amount you're retaining on Kuemper is about as much as the Avs will have to spend on a back up G if they're lucky.
