This is not close; ANA needs to add way more unless CGY values Lundestrom more than I can imagine

Calgary declines. We don't want Zegras, he's all flash no substance.

The real question is why would a rebuilding team go for vets like this?

Are you forgetting to account for that Albatross of a contract attached to Kadri? Because it sure seems like you are.

Anderssen is a great piece, but he doesn't buy Zegras AND dump Kadli, let alone including Lundestrom and Vatrano. Not to mention at 27 he doesn't fit our rebuild timeline.

Kadri's contract is not an albatross contract or a cap dump. It might not be a great contract in the last year or two but he's worth his cap hit right now and likely will be for several more years yet. He is the team's leading scorer on pace for 70 points and an important leader who has great chemistry with 2 good young rookies.

He's 33, has 5 more years left on that deal, not to mention a NMC for a chunk of the remaining deal, he's maybe got 1-2 decent seasons left in him before he starts the regress badly, and then you're carrying around a 7 million dollar 3rd line player for 3 years.

Yes, that's an albatross of a.contract, and a cap dump, he'll be closer to 39 than 38 when that deal is up.

I don't think it counts as a"cap dump" today. Down the road, most likely. Even over the next 2-3 years it's not a true dump. Jack Campbell's is a dump. This is just a little high for what you are getting. Zegras is a good player, and someone fans want to see, but his stats are mediocre - albeit playing on a poor team. Maybe a different scenery would elevate him, but he still needs to work on his defensive awareness. He doesn't score enough to be one-dimensional
