Bruins cap situation after a 7x75 Hanifin contract

Created by: ethanwinters
Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2024
Published: Mar. 17, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just trying to show the cap situation after a Hanifin signing, a new Swayman deal, and trading Ullmark. Enough space for a 1st line forward, but not enough to also keep DeBrusk. I think this lineup illustrates why an Ullmark/PLD base for a deal could make sense.

Somewhere for something. Just trying to show cap situation post a Hanifin trade and still needing help up front.

My assumption is they will want about $3 to $4M of that money tied to expiring contracts that they can allocate to Frederic and other pending free agents.

Or 35+ 1 year contracts for Marchand from here on out.

Planning for that is a mistake., which is why I see one major addition and then a collection of smart 1 year contracts that maybe pay a premium for a short term contract.

That’s one of the reasons that I think Ullmark could be retained or a Reilly Smith could be acquired as an insurance policy forward even though I know there are better options available in free agency
