Can't see Grz getting that contract with Lohrei pushing him for a job and Wotherspoon looking pretty reliable on the third pair. I think he's gone unless he's willing to return on the cheap

They could bring him back on a cheap deal as a 7th dman, would be good depth. Also, I'm not sold on Lohrei playing 82 games next year. The kid has looked great but he struggles on his pivots and give a lot of odd rushes to the opposing team. Would be good to have another Dman that can step-up and play top 4 minutes like Gryz.

Can't see why Heinen would be taking a paycut. he's been awesome. 2x2.5 makes sense.

this is returning on the cheap. it makes a lot of sense. you can't just have 6 NHL d men rostered and expect success.

1. I could see Heinen signing that contract, a 3 year at 2.25M, or a one year at a premium in excess of $3M depending on the flexibility we want.

2. I’d love Grz or an Ian Cole type as an insurance policy 6/7 for the right price

Based on this years play, that’s what he is until he returns to form. It could be injury driven, but what’s the market on an undersized puck mover coming off a bad year. I think he’d be an ideal fit next to Brandt Clarke in LA if they are forced to move on from Matt Roy

Unless I misunderstood and you are saying they will want a more defensively inclined pairing on the bottom 2?

Agree on Heinen

Still disagree on Grz... I don't think many teams are lining up to sign an undersized 30+ defenseman whose play has fallen off quite a bit in the last year. According to the Athletic's advanced analytics player cards, Grz's value is $1.2M AAV... if he wiling to accept a $2M AAV contract for the next two years I think the Bruins would be willing to bring him back and see if he can beat out Lohrei/Wotherspoon and regain some of his previous form. I just think there are better options out there than paying $3.5M for Grz.
