Offseason change up actually becomes competitive

Created by: Leafsfan98
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 21, 2024
Published: Mar. 21, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is from a Leafs fan... So, I'm not being biased for Ottawa in any trade...

Mantha: Stop gap option on the right side until Boucher's ready

Brodie: Solid defensive depth option on that right side, can help JBB become even better and gives Ottawa flexibility on PK

Sammy: Has found his game, very solid option in net and is capable of running a tandem of him and Soogard

Lindholm: Can replace Norris at a lesser cap and won't get injured as much, can also play wing if they want to stack the lines

You're welcome Ottawa

As a fellow Leafs fan, not sure that SENs can be fixed thankfully. Going to finish 27/28th, with core (that is simply not good enough imo) locked up to big $ & big term deals and a surprisingly bad prospect pool - don’t see a way out of mediocrity or worse for a few more years. Which is good news for us given how tough the division is already 👍

Chabot would be pair 1 with Jones and would be PP1 either with Jones or over Jones...

No chance would they run a Jones Chabot pair. That's defensive suicide. And no chance Chabot plays pp over Jones.

Wyatt Kaiser can't be upgraded by Chabot?

Based on this logic you should acquire Chabot for the Leafs, he is better then basically everyone on their left side other then Reilly and even that may debatable.

You propose this deal without considering what the Hawks need. As many others have already told you Chicago has two young guys in Vlasic and Korchinski cutting their teeth with team this season. They have Del Mastro, Allan, Kaiser, Phillips and Roos who are all LHD working their way through the system and playing well in the AHL and any one of them could make the step up full time next season. Why spend $8m filling a spot which looks to be well taken care of for the foreseeable future, that would be piss poor asset management.

Those JFresh cards prove my point exactly! A Chabot/Jones pair is not good defensively. Very good offensively. Below average defensively.

Regardless of what you might think, you've had 4 other Hawks fans plus me tell you the Hawks aren't trading for Chabot. Chabot isn't a need nor is he a good fit for the Hawks. Time to accept that trade isn't a good one and move on.

???

None of these trades will happen! That's the point of fantasy trades...

And those Fresh cards prove my point that Jones is more defensive and would work with Chabot

Then why does JFresh and other analytics say otherwise? And Chabot is way more offensive than Jones

If we had the luxury on spending 8 mill on our 2LD, we 1000% should! The issue with Toronto is cap space and having 50+% of our cap...

And BTW, Don't ever compare Morgan Rielly to Chabot when you don't think Chabot's better than Seth Jones... Morgan Rielly is much better than Seth Jones

Do you know how you end up with cap problems… signing or taking on bad contracts and spending $8m for an often injured player at a position of depth… not smart.

Please show me where I said Jones is better then Reilly or Jones is better then Chabot or a Chabot is better then Reilly. I said it is debatable that Chabot is better than Reilly. Here’s a tip, try reading what people write.

For 2 years... And could then flip when he LDs start to take over... That would be the whole point... Buy low, sell high

And Rielly>>>Jones... If you are saying Rielly vs Chabot is very debatable, then you are saying Chabot>Jones

The young LHD have already started to take over, did you miss the point that was made when I said Korchinski and Vlasic are already in the NHL. Kaiser was recently recalled, Philips has played games with Chicago the last two seasons. Del Mastro was an AHL all-star in his first professional season and is a good bet to make the Hawks next season. Allan has had a strong first year in the AHL… it makes no sense to bring in another veteran LHD to block the path of your best young, cheap prospects.

Also, if you think Kurashev and two 2nd round picks is buying low then that tells me you really haven’t watched Kurashev or followed his progress the last couple of seasons. It is also a big gamble to think at this point Chabot can stay healthy and return a bigger package then that in another year or two.

And Rielly>>>Jones... If you are saying Rielly vs Chabot is very debatable, then you are saying Chabot>Jones

So what’s your point? Jones plays the right side, Chabot the left side. Chabot wouldn’t be brought in to replace Jones, he would be brought into replace someone on the left which has been pointed out to you on numerous occasions by multiple people that LHD is a position of depth in the organization.

Then you should take that up with the person who said Chabot wouldn’t play PP1 instead of attaching statements to me that I didn’t make.
