Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Bruins continue to remain in the Cup conversations, while quietly Sweeney has dine a very good job of adding youth to the forward core (Geekie, Zacha etc) over the last couple years. I see the youth movement contuing next season as it really is a fantastic balance of youth and vet presence. Basically coming back with the same team. If it isn't broke, so fix it.

1. Boyd: has spent considerable time on IR this season, but he is a sparkplug. Assuming he returns to health in time.for the start of the season, will push the kids for ice time on the 4th line.

2. Lebanc: a cheap low risk move. There was a time he had game, and it is hard to imagine it simply went away. An insurance policy on Lysell (well so is Boyd). A reclamation project that just may work JVR style.

3. Debrusk. Did I ever struggle with this. On one hand, the money is there to male a play on a Duchene, Stephenson, or maybe even Reinhart. On the other, Debrusk is a known Bruins commodity, who is younger than the afore mentioned group. Resigning him doesn't wow me, but it doesn't male me think blah either. He simply fits the chemistry of the team. And.... for the forward time in a while, the Bruins have some space to play with.

4. Hanafin: well, do I need to explain it? If he wants to be a Bruin, I can see him taking a small haircut to male that happen (see $8 million on the open market, so $7.25 million to come home isn't outrageous).

5. Ullmark deal: ideally I would want a 2024 1st, but since the fit really is the Kings, and they are in the same spot as the Bruins, you take the 2025.

Overall thoughts: deep, good and remain a legit contender. A top 4 on the blueline that maybe the best in the NHL.

The fit is obvious. Cannot imagine a world where Ullmark doesn't land a 1st..... even if it is clear he has to move.

According to the rumors Ullmark has all the Pacific teams on his NTC and according to the rumors the B's and LA have already tried to make a trade for Ullmark which both teams were good with but Ullmark rejected the trade cause it's a Pacific team. So basically Ullmark won't be traded to the Kings or anywhere West because he doesn't want to come out West.

We know that he didn’t want to go West during the season. I wouldn’t want to leave my family for 4 months either being in a different time zone or forcing them to relocate during the season to temporary housing away from existing support networks. We need to remember that these players are human beings.

If accompanied by an extension that brings stability, none of us knows what Ullmark will decide. Do I think it would make him reconsider? I do, but each player has different criteria,

A Kings trade makes sense if they are clearing PLD to make room for both Ullmark and Roy while allowing them to sign Byfield to a long term contract. Struggling to see the rationale if it’s just acquiring Ullmark by himself.

That depends on how they approach Byfield. I see a 2 year bridge deal there honestly; which lines up with Kopitar coming off the books (where he may re-up again, but for again less).

Roy resigning may depend on where the Kings see Clarke. But let's not discount that they want him back. I would.

I am one that doesn't see an Ullmark extension being much more than where he is at now. $7 million max? Less if there is serious term?

Kings have $11 million in cap space, and can certainly juggle that.

Not sure that an Ullmark deal there would be so hung up
