Bruins next season

Description
Signed Hanifin and Stephenson from Vegas. Probably not likely as Vegas will keep one of the two I'd think but you never know. Decided to go with Stephenson rather than Lindholm as he is the cheaper option as can bring almost as much to the table as E. Lindholm. Hanifin is a no brainer if he wants to come home. Merkulov and Lysell make the team and if they don't they never will. Signed Lafferty as a depth player that can slot in anywhere in the lineup. Lots of players on this roster can play either center or wing, this is good in case Poitras needs to slide over to RW if he's not ready for a full time role at center.

I like Stephenson as a player but it's been awhile since his defensive underlying numbers have even graded out as average. Not sure he's a guy that you can play with Pasta.

Lindholm fits the system and Sweeney has tried to acquire him from both Calgary and Vancouver. As a collective fan base, I think we are overthinking this.

To me, the question is do we trade Ullmark with the thought process of pursuing both Hanifin and Lindholm OR do we just pursue one of them (with Lindholm being the likely target)

Detroit’s secondary prospects are good enough to where I see any trade with them likely including an existing prospect

The more I look at it the more I think Hanifin is a luxury we can't really afford. McAvoy can put up elite results without a true top pair defenseman next to him, we already know that for a fact. I'm not sure committing another 7+ mil to defense to find him a partner is the right move.

Ideal offseason for me is re-signing Debrusk, signing Lindholm, and then finding a top 4 capable LD that comes in cheaper then Hanifin does. Probably has to come via trade cause I don't see a guy like that available this summer.

Wings aren't doing that

That 1st could be middle of first round.

My expectation is a

2025 first rounder
Or
A 2024 first rounder (later than 20)
Or
A good prospect and a supplemental pick
Or
Keep him for the year

You could a first for Ullmark, but it's not gonna be from a team with two very good goalie prospects.

Goalie prospects are better off being developed as backups. Period. Even the best prospects look mediocre in their adjustments unless Detroit is resigned to not being a playoff team next year as well,

I like Cossa, but if he’s your starting goaltender … I’d expect significant struggles in year 1. Levi was better prepared than him.

No way do they trade a mid first, but a secondary D prospect like Wallinder and 2024 second likely is a competitive offer for Ullmark who would be a significant upgrade.

For 1 year of Ullmark?

Not bloody likely.

Ullmark may not even want to play in Detroit.

How is Detroit dumping Husso's 4.75 mil?

And who says Detroit is punting next season?

The plan for Cossa is for him to play another season in Grand Rapids.

Backup in Detroit his first season.

Then take over as the starter in 26/27.

Augustine is 19 years old.

Plenty of time for him to develop.

So continue to get mediocre goaltending because you signed Husso to a poor contract? My perspective is Cossa isn’t ready next year. You trade a second and a prospect like Wallinder for Ullmark, you buy him a year to develop and figure out what’s next.

Of course, you can play Husso and Lyon or Reimer. Husso is bleeping bad.

Husso stinks but each time I propose a goalie trade on here I get ripped.

Apparently trades never happen according to CFACGM fans.

CFACGM fans believe their starters are modern day versions of Roy, Hasek and Brodeur.

No different than every team thinking that all cheap goalies will become Adin Hill. Teams have to make cap trade offs all the time.

I look at Detroit’s cap situation and think Ullmark fits fairly easily as long as the price is right. I think that price is likely Wallinder and a second (or an equivalent value). Don’t see that as too much for an upgrade.
