I can't see Mangi bringing back a 1st, especially not a top 10 pick.
2 1sts seems like a lot for Andersson too, maybe a 1st and 2nd. 2 1sts if they were going to be late picks may be realistic.

I don’t think it’ll be top 10. I agree it’s a bit of a stretch though, but not impossible imo.

I was looking for a prospect we’d want back from BUF instead of the second first and couldn’t find one. Assuming everything comes together next year that second first could be bottom 16 in the draft which I think is a fine price for a top 4 RHD on a team friendly deal with term left.

If it's not top 10 it's 11th. Without retention I think a 2nd is the best we will get for Mangi.

Retention + Greer though 👀…
Gives NJ the wingers they’re looking for at cheap prices.

NJD decline, if 1st is moved it is moved for a goalie

Ottawa declines, likely not moving that high of a lottery pick

Buffalo has the best prospect pool in the league. Ostlund, rosen, kulich would all be great additions.

Without retention you're looking at future considerations as an optimistic return for mangiapane.

We got Greer for free of waivers, what do you think his value is? I'd say a 5th round pick at best.

No team will ever give up a top 10 pick for 1 year of a winger on pace for 46 points.

NJ is not picking top ten bro 😂. The team is way too good for that. Make the pick the 2025 first and that’s great value.

Wingers? They have Bratt, Meier, Mercer, and Holtz...they aren't spending a 1st on a winger. If anything right now Hughes is playing wing bc he's hurt. This is massive overpay by NJD. Doesn't address a need.

Again. not paying a 1st for a 45 point winger rental and a 13th forward.

Unretained? I doubt it.

They just got Bertuzzi on a 1 year deal for 5.5 mill for free. Is mangiapane at 5.9 better value than that?

Here's some UFA wingers.

How many is Mangiapane better than?

Tyler Toffoli
Patrick Kane
Jonathan Marchessault
Teuvo
Henrique
Arvidsson
Mantha
Debrusk
Bertuzzi
Tarasenko

I think he's probably right in the middle of your list there. A lot of those guys went for 1sts or 2nds, with salary retained. I said at best a 2nd without retention, which I don't think is too far off, he'd definitely get more then future considerations.

All of those guys are free agents this offseason

How many will get more than 5.9 mill AAV?

Marchessault, Toffoli is probably the entire list.

Why pay a 2nd for Mangiapane when you can pay nothing for a better, cheaper player in free agency.

If mangiapane has a good year, sure, he can get something at the deadline.

Not during the offseason when boatloads of talented UFAs can be acquired for free

Calgary would have to consider that offer for Andersson... Nothing wrong with the value offered but it'd put the defense on really shaky ground to trade him too after already trading Zadorov, Tanev and Hanifin this year.

We traded for byram. We aren't making another major defensive trade
