Description
This is a simulated result of what trades/signings were made in our GHL GM League for a simulated off-season.

GM's were tasked with the job of getting their team ready for the season. They had to stay within the salary cap restrictions and must have a maximum of 6 players on the Taxi Squad for injury relief purposes.

Your job is to comment and evaluate how the GM managed their team.

Questions to answer:
1. What was the best move made by the GM?
2. What was the worst move made by the GM?
3. Did the GM improve the team or make them worse?

Thank you for playing! Our GHL GM League is played for a couple of months then posted on CapFriendly for everyone to see the results made by the GM's!

I wouldn't say the team is any better, but I wouldn't say it's worse. Might be a bit low on some contracts.

Thanks for your comments, yes my personal opinion is that this GM didn't do enough.

I think Philly came out on top here. Holl may be bad but Belpedio is worse, he's an AHL player. That means Detroit's GM gave Philly a 2nd and a 3rd to move Holl. That's pretty bad roster management when Holl's buyout would be $1.13M or 4 seasons. Does this make Detroit worse? Even though Detroit is down grading from Holl to Belpedio it doesn't make them worse right now since they won't need to play Belpedio very much. That still doesn't make giving up a 3rd and a 2nd to move Holl any better.

laugh Literally! At least they still have Lyon but like yikes.

I asked about the package discussed for Ullmark and Boston was wanting a 1st+Veleno for him.

While I think Detroit needs a goalie, a top 15 pick is rich.

I would actually look more at William Wallendir or Carter Mazur as the primary compensation and a 2nd or 3rd on top of it.

Ullmark has been arguably the best goalie in the league over the past two years

Yes he has, would you still pay that for him being a UFA, or would that be based off of an extension?

My perspective is a 1st and maybe a 3rd for a rental or equivalent value. If it’s not paid, Boston can keep him and let him walk next year. It’s healthy to have $3 to $5M in expiring contracts on your books.

Yeah good point. Leaves some money to spend in the off-season too.
