I'm not a fan of signing Lindholm. Dude is most likely already past his prime, and his upcoming contract might become a problem in few years. Also need to renew TK, York, Frost, Foerster and maybe Cates next year.

3*3 for Ned seems too much, can get some veteran G cheaper to keep company for Ersson.

Other moves are fine.

Leafs match that for Benoit. If you want him pay for him.

Yeah, I don't know why so many are on the LIndholm's bandwagon. Could be just another Couturier , or San Jose's Couture waiting to happen

I agree, but he is the best center in this years UFA class, and theres only three that are reasonably aged.

Can Stephenson be as good outside Vegas?
Can Monahan stay healthy and continue producing?

Beyond those 3 theres a substantial drop off. Its also about what teams want, Philly would be looking for a 1st line center, but since there isnt one, they need a 1B center or 2C, as they have young wingers in Foertser, Tippett, Farabee, Koneckny, Brink, etc.... but lack centers in the organization. So its also about long term. Philly has cap and a load of picks/prospects, but I'd just as likely see them take a smaller cap chance on Stephensen, who probably doesn;t have the offensive upside

Agree with you that the UFA centre position has few "above average" players available. But again, what's the balance between acquiring one for NOW and what he might be become in a few years?
Guess we'll find out for real in July. His production with the Canucks, admitting he has been playing wing, might be an indicator to "stay away"

The question is, do we actually need the best C of this years UFA class? I'd say no. It's not like Flyers should be competitive next year but should be, when Michkov arrives and then try to take advantage of his ELC. And when that happens they struggle if they are using 15M+ on regressing Lindholm and Couturier.

But I could take Monahan cheaper with 2-3 year contract if they really want to add a center. Just play Frost as 1C then "Monahan"/Couturier/Cates as 2C and 3C or Cates at LW since we lack LW aswell. Poehling is good 4C. VGK and Bruins have shown that you can be a really good team without elite centers, if the rest of team is good enough and coaching is good aswell.

They aren’t likely getting a center in free agency…at least not the long-term solution. They have acquired 4 firsts and 4 seconds in the next two drafts. Some of that is going to be used (maybe in conjunction with Laughton and/or Risto) as trade capital. Look for the Flyers to go after high-end prospect, a young center with good upside, or to trade up in this year’s draft to get a C or first pairing LD.
