Description
I really don’t see how Florida can re-sign Reinhart without taking massive blows to their depth.

And if Reinhart does get resigned throw the same contract at guentzel and run Zacha at C.

If those both fail then go for lindholm

Reinhart doesn't play center also it will take more than that to pry him out of Florida. I bet he extends

Reinhart has took over 300 draws in the last 3 seasons.

Also florida has cap but not enough to bring back Reinhart/ montour and Lundell.

I doubt anyone takes knight until he shows flashes of his potential again. Bobrovsky is an unmoveable contract.
Moving Ekblad wouldn’t be smart.

If they sign all 3 ( Reinhart 9-9.5, Montour 6.5-7.5, Lundell 3-3.5) they have about 4 mill to fill 2 dman spots a whole 4th line and 1 3rd liner.

Even assuming sourdif and mackie make the roster on their ELC’s that would still leave them with having to fill 4 spots at less then nhl minimum

300 faceoffs is nothing. They are also not what defines a center. He's a right handed shot and Barkov has constant injury issues. He's about as much of a center as Nylander is.

As for cap space. I'm more than willing to bet he would take a discount to stay in Florida. 9.25M x 7 years is 67.75M, Florida would only have to offer 8.1M to top that (which they will almost certainly offer at least 8.5x8). On top of that, Reinhart knows what it's like to play in an unsuccessful environment and is in one where he is having immense success, why would he risk losing that again?

You doubt anyone would take a chance on Knight? Maybe not a cup contender but it's only a 2 year commitment at 4.5M. For the potential of being a bonafide starter I'm more than willing to bet a team with lots of cap space would take a shot on him. Bob is more moveable than you make him out to be too, especially since his NTC drops down to a 16 team partial this summer.

I doubt Lundell makes more than 3M this summer, he has not had nearly strong enough sophomore and junior seasons to justify much more than a 2.5M bridge. I think they are way more likely to let Montour walk than Reinhart right now

That would be a terrible mistake. The team is #1 in the league in goals against with a top paid D man that is made of glass. Letting Montour walk would immediately make their D suspect on the right side, and it risks having Bob turn back into a pumpkin or having the team be less aggressive on the forecheck to compensate for the weaker backend. Good RD is much harder to replace than goal scoring.

I actually don't want the B's to pay Reinhart upwards of 9m. He's a great player, but I don't expect him to suddenly become a perennial 45+ goal scorer. He's probably good for 30+ goals and 60+ points a year though, so he has earned what you are suggesting from FLA. I can't see them letting go of Montour or Reinhart though. They'd sooner give up Knight for free than let either of those guys walk. They both fit the team's identity too well, and their contention window is now.

I said more likely to let Montour walk than Reinhart, not that they will. I think they will look to find a way to stop paying over 15M on goaltending every season first. For example I could see Arizona having interest in Knight. Or maybe Philly since Hart is probably returning any time soon if at all.

You gotta realize that the tax benefits of Florida often mean players can sign for less and make the same net. Between the state tax and millionaire’s tax, it’s really a competitive advantage from a cap perspective. Forsaking took a net contract that was well less to what he’d sign in other markets

I seriously doubt that Bennett makes it to FA. There are enough RD options where they should be able to sign Montour or a replacement in free agency.

What players did Sweeney try to acquire at the deadline should be a baseline on whom he chases in free agency. I think it’s Lindholm or Hanifin.
