LMFAO Cossa will not be the starter. He is not at all what the Wings thought he would be (hence drafting Augustine). I can see Cossa potentially becoming the back up in a couple more years but I cannot see him finding his groove that much to become the starter on the wings. I still can't believe he passes on Wallstadt for him

Not really a mess. His UFA signings can be questionable though.

lol Cossa has a better save % and GAA than Wallstedt. He has been killing it. Just set records with the Griffins and is a huge reason they have already clinched a playoff berth but ok lol

No NHL owner will allow his/her GM to use 4 buyouts in one summer.

I'm not even sure if it's allowed?

His UFA signings are what made it a mess. I still have faith but I have no clue how he's going repair this roster.

Well I can promise you he won't severely overpay for Guentzel.

Its not a mess:
Holl will be bought out or kept as insurance;
Petry and Husso expire after next year;
Copp isn't great but he's still productive and can probably be moved after next year;
Fabbri and/or Maatta can easily be moved to create some more room.

Most, if not all of the prospects are not ready yet - where's the mess?

Yzerman definitely has his work cut out for him this summer.

One thing about making Red Wings CFACGMs I find is trades aren't allowed.

LOL

Look at the teams they play on Grand Rapids has a lot better talent in it than Iowa. A good team helps that out. Wallstadt and Askorov are considered the best goalie prospects right now so I don't see how you are thinking Cossa is a better goaltender.

For instance if you want to trade Olli Maatta it'll cost a 2nd round pick and your best prospect.

And you'll get back future considerations.

Trade Fabbri?

It'll cost you your actual life. 🤭

I never said he was a better goaltender. I said his stats were better and a big part of a playoff push. He's proving himself at every level. You're the wild one for think a back up in a couple more years and thinking the only reason they drafted Augustine is something to do with Cossa. I forgot goaltender depth was a bad thing tears of joy get outta here

To be clear, I'm not suggesting he's not going to actually get that (some stupid GM will pay him). I'm just suggesting it's an overpayment.

If Stevie signed him for around $7-$8M a year I'd be all for it.

If Yzerman signs Raymond and Seider to 8 year deals I don't think he'll have the cap space to sign Guentzel.

But I can't see Yzerman's offering a max deal to Guentzel.

4 more years at 5+ mil for Jarry?

Nope.

At least Husso only has a year left.

Well duh.

But Detroit is buying time for Cossa.

They don't need a goalie with 4 years left on his contract.

Jarry + (Cossa back up) 25-26
Cossa + (Vet back up) 26-27 (Jarry traded or is back up)
